Empath Health is one of the country’s largest not-for-profit health systems delivering non-acute care and services through its skilled, medical and holistic programs to individuals with chronic, advanced and terminal illnesses and those experiencing grief. As a nonprofit, we help those we serve live as comfortably and meaningfully as possible and offer assistance to their families and caregivers along the way. No matter where someone is on their journey, our spectrum of medical and emotional support services provides compassionate care for each and every patient. Our integrated network of care includes hospice, home health, personal care, palliative care, senior primary care services, all-inclusive elder care, HIV and sexual health support services, grief services and company-owned, full-service pharmacy and durable medical equipment (DME). Before Freddie and his wife joined Empath LIFE’s PACE program, he shared something honest and heartfelt.

“She needed help that I could not provide.”

When they entered the program, the message he heard brought him comfort.

“They told us they would be there for both of us so we could get through this transition together.”

Freddie’s story reminds us that caring for someone you love is deeply meaningful and can also be a significant responsibility. Families deserve support throughout the entire process, so they feel accompanied and cared for, supported by resources designed to make things a little easier.

At Empath LIFE, we are honored to walk beside caregivers and their loved ones, offering coordinated care, guidance, and steady support right where it is needed most.

Bill King never called himself a hero. But at 97, this World War II veteran reminded us of what courage looks like.

When our Suncoast Hospice Foundation team featured Bill in our gala video, it became more than a story. It became a way to honor his life, his service, and the love he shared with his daughter, Anne.

“His last hurrah was such a happy night,” Anne said.

This Veterans Day, we remember Bill and every veteran who reminds us what it means to live with heart.

Please join us in congratulating Martha Lenderman, former president of the Suncoast Hospice Board of Directors, on receiving the 2025 Sally Parks Outstanding Humanitarian Award from the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas, Inc.!

Martha has dedicated her life to helping seniors live with dignity, independence, and compassionate support through her decades of leadership with both Empath Health and AAAPP.
