This beautiful story from Trustbridge reflects the spirit of Empath Health. Kindness and compassion can change lives, big and small.

Motzie is a little dog with a big story. His owner was in our hospice care and wanted to be sure his best friend would have a home.

Thanks to volunteer coordinator Tonya Wiedel, Motzie now has a new home, a cozy backyard, and a family who loves him dearly.

It’s amazing what happens when we choose kindness.

On Tuesdays at our Suncoast PACE Center, participants and volunteers sew items such as pillows, blankets, aprons that bring comfort and care to our community.

One PACE participant has been sewing since she was 14 years old! Through the PACE program, she is able to continue sharing her lifelong gift of sewing to help others.

This is what the PACE program is all about. Community, creativity, and compassion stitched together.

Today is World Alzheimer’s Day, and we asked our dementia team at Empath Hospice of Marion County, “How can we bring joy to someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia?”

Their answers were simple, and they’re a gentle reminder we all need to hear: that joy comes in the small moments. A smile, a laugh, or just sitting close.

It doesn’t have to be big. It just has to be real.

Meet Mackie! This sweet 6-year-old Labrador has been a Pet Therapy Volunteer at Suncoast PACE for over a year and a half. Alongside her owner, Carol, Mackie brings love, snuggles, and joy to our participants who can’t wait for her visits.

After stopping at PACE, Mackie also makes her way to our Suncoast Hospice Care Center, where she shares comfort with patients, families, and staff. We are so grateful to Mackie and Carol for the smiles and healing moments they bring to our community.
