Hello, my name is Candence I am the owner of Candence HomeCare Services Agency LLC. I have served in the elder community for nearly 20 years. I have experience in all areas of care from Acute Rehab, Nursing, Private home care, hospital, hospice and community health. I currently work full time as a Certified Community Health Worker implementing a new program here in Cleveland at one of our top-rated Rehab Centers. During my years of service, I have taken care of many people in the senior population. One special client gave me the best experience of my life taking care of her and her husband. Our conversations where amazing but hearing about the care and the services she received outside of my working hours broke my heart. I told her and myself that if I could make a change to what caregivers look like and what we stood for that I would. She supported that fully and made me aware that she had faith in me to do something great. After 2 years of working with this family new opportunities arose for me, and it was time to move on. With her full support I was ready to push forward to what was next in my career. The day I left her she stood in front of me as tall as she had ever been and said she just wanted to let me know that I was never an employee but her friend. As my eyes filled with tears, I gave her a small embrace and thanked her for being so great to me as she felt I was to her. 30 days later I found out that my little lady was now in hospice. It broke my heart, and I couldn’t understand how someone I left 30days ago that was doing so well was near death. I was allowed to come see her!! When I walked in her room that was nearly quiet, I called out her name. Even in her final stage she was aware I was there and let out a gasp that to me was her excitement. I sat next to her and talked as if she was up and listening to me and gave her every update I could from the last 30 days. She had this thing about my hair. She was amazed by it and would voice her opinion very clearly if she didn’t like it. I placed her hand on my new freshly done Locs and felt her cold skin against mine. I know she loved feeling it even it was something she didn’t like. I gave her a kiss on her cheek and told her how thankful I was for her. 30 minutes after I left, she was gone. My heart broke but I knew what we had experienced with each other was what I wanted for every elder person who is receiving care to have. With that being said again I like to introduce myself: I AM CANDENCE and this is CANDENCE HOMECARE SERVICES AGENCY!!!
