Old fashioned Black Drawing Salve, I love this stuff!! It has activated charcoal and bentonite clay, calendula and plantain infused in grapeseed oil, and a touch of lavender and tea tree eos. This salve is great for boils, splinters, bee stings, and bug bites. It draws infection, splinters, etc. right out!! 🖤🫶

This morning was wild, y'all!! 😁

First day of school for 4 out of 5 of our young people, and I could NOT sleep last night. My brain was just non-stop thinking of all the things and trying to make sure everything was taken care of for everyone. I kept adding tasks to my reminders, hoping that eventually I would sleep, but when Zach woke me up at 6:20, I had maybe gotten 3 hours total. After texts and calls with the younger 3 and dropping our 11th grader (how is that possible 😳) off at school, I thought I would lay down for an hour.

15 minutes later, I gave that idea up, made coffee, and decided to do something productive with my hands while I made phone calls, answered emails, and filed our declaration of intent to homeschool the one kiddo that's still happily sleeping on the couch as I type. 💜

So, pickled jalapeños from the garden!!🌶

They take about 20 minutes total, if that, to make, and are soooo good!!! The recipe is simple. 😋

You put a cup of vinegar, white, or apple cider if you like a more nuanced and sweet flavor, garlic, about 2 cloves, a cup of water, a tbs of salt, and two tbs of sugar in a pot on high while you slice your jalapeños thin. When the water is boiling, you dump your jalapeños in, stir, take off the heat, and let them sit for 8 minutes. Then you can use a spoon or tongs to throw them in a jar, and then pour in the brine till the jar is full. I like to make sure I get all the garlic in the jar before I pour all the liquid in. Then you can store them in the fridge for a couple of months, but they never last that long! 🤣 I only had 4 jalapeños so I cut the recipe in half, and it packed an 8oz jar perfectly!

These simple tasks help me more than anything to calm my brain. I hope that you are able to do something that helps you today and that it will bring you peace and joy!! ✌️🫶

Monday was a salve making day!! I got four types of salve made!! It was a peaceful day of taking over my kitchen while my sweet man worked quietly from home on the back corner of our kitchen table. It's the quiet, simple things that fill me with joy. What brings you joy? 🌿✨️🥰

We didn't plant very much this year, but what we planted is so far doing well. At least what we've been able to keep the deer from eating🦌🤦🏻‍♀️

Our Story

HippieNugget Arts at Brooks Bears Farm is a work of love for our family, natural healing, foraging, homesteading, our art, and for our home. Our two daughter's were nicknamed by their uncle the "hippie nuggets", and the name stuck. We purchased our home in March of 2017, and named it Brooks Bears Farm. Rather than pick between the two, for a name to do business under, we decided to combine the two names, and the two passions, into one. We make and sell natural remedies, elderberry syrup, herbal salves, tinctures, herbal tea blends, bath teas, terrarium necklaces, dream catchers handmade from muscadine vines and antique doilies, hand embroidered hoops, multiple flower and fruit jellies, and more! Our little family of artists is always making something new. We are lovers of nature, primitive skills, and many different art forms. Our business will grow and change as we do as individuals, as a family, and as a small homestead in the North Georgia Mountains. 💜💜💜
