Would you trust a 28 year old to guide you through menopause? 🤔
Because a popular health business guru claims she got her start by running a hormone-balancing diet program for women in menopause…in her late 20s.
Someone asked, weren’t these menopausal women a little reluctant to put their trust in someone in their late 20s? She said, “Nope. It’s all about painting yourself as the expert.”
This was about 10 years ago, and looking back on that exchange I’m annoyed. At the time I wondered how someone so young could be an expert in menopause, and now I know the truth.
She wasn’t. 🙄
Those of us who’ve already experienced or are currently experiencing menopause know it’s not something you can truly understand unless you’ve been through it. Certainly not male personal trainers or 20-something diet coaches who capitalize on the huge “opportunity” of claiming they can help menopausal women who are often struggling with serious symptoms and feeling desperate for solutions.
It doesn’t help that up until recently, the menopausal years just weren’t talked about publicly. And our mothers and grandmothers kept pretty quiet about these things too, most likely because their mothers and grandmothers did the same.
So it’s great, and really important, that this is a more mainstream discussion now. But the truth is, most doctors and even gynecologists still don’t have the answers or the ability to help guide their patients during the 3 stages of menopause. That leaves a lot of women confused about what’s normal in terms symptoms and changes.
I’m 56. I started perimenopause around age 46 and completed menopause at age 53. I definitely experienced symptoms, especially post-menopausally, that no one was talking about. My doctors were clueless. So during this process and as I’ve worked with so many women in this same stage of life, I wondered:
What symptoms made sense from a biological standpoint, and what seemed to be caused by lifestyle factors? Was every symptom and change a given? How much control do we have?
And being the dedicated researcher I am, I was able to discover some concrete answers and gain valuable insights that not only helped me get through this process without medical intervention, but have helped my clients as well.
In my next class, Hormone Help for All 3 Stages of Menopause:
-You’ll learn how and why the food and medications that come along with the Standard American Diet lead to weight gain, hair loss, loss of skin elasticity, and hot flashes.
-We’ll talk in detail about the 3 stages and potential symptoms including how your dosha comes into play.
-I’ll go over dietary protocols and herbs that can help, and
-Most importantly, we’ll talk about how you can begin living in a way that honors this incredibly important transition in your life as the wise, vibrant woman that you are.
Class is this Sunday! Sign up on my site under the Classes & Mentoring tab. 💚
