I watched Gladiator 2 last night and there were parallels between the excesses of late stage Rome and our world. The majority of people wanted the same things, food, fairness, peace. And yet those closest to power with the chance to change things just wanted more power and didn’t care who or what they had to do to get to it. I wanted to shout at the TV to fking work together.
(On that note, spoiler alert I hate it when Denzel plays the bad guy, makes me question everything I know about the world. Does anyone else feel this betrayal when your favorite good-guy actor plays the bad guy??)
The planet is on the brink and we need to come together for our collective future. Could we come together on february 28th to not spend? Could we unitedly do nothing?
We are going to have to learn to come together to do hard things, so maybe this could be a simple thing.
Get your gas and your groceries tomorrow. Make evening plans at someone’s home.
Consider what’s necessary and what can wait.
The stuff doesn’t love us back.
I’m sure Denzel will be proud of you.
