Ok maybe I wasn’t exactly sick for a week, but our household was sick for over a week 😳😳😳

As a mom of two, with a full schedule and a commitment to keeping the household running smoothly, being sick is not something I want to last for more than it has to.

Here’s what I did while I was under the weather; and a few of the things on this list are things I would normally NOT do!

1. I didn’t work out. This one was probably the hardest one for me. When I’m sick, usually my mentality is to sweat it out and just power through. My kids were sick while I was sick too, so I was up every night dealing with them and my sleep was not normal. I knew that my body needed REST instead of a workout just to say that I did it.

2. I ate healthy foods. Let’s be blunt about this—I WANTED THE UNHEALTHY FOODS. Something about being sick in bed makes you just want to eat all the chips and fries and delicious coffee drinks just to boost my mood. I resisted this and instead fed myself foods that I knew would help me get back to 100% and ultimately make me feel better in the moment.

3. I did red-light therapy daily. This is one part of my daily routine that I made sure to stick with. I didn’t wake up to my usual alarm, so thankfully Ryan helped me out by watching the boys while I laid down to do this.

4. Watched a lot of TV. If you know me, you know I really hate sitting down and watching TV. There’s a million other things I need to be doing, a million things I need to get done, but chilling was necessary for this short time. The R&R was exactly what my worn out body needed.

5. I asked for help. Now this one was the hardest for me. I hate to admit defeat, I hate to accept help, but wow did it feel good to have support while I was sick. Ryan let me sleep in, helped with getting the boys ready and ultimately play boss dad for a bit. Asking for help is something I struggle with daily, but it felt great to ask for help and get it in return with no questions asked.

I’m feeling better now & know what I need to add to my routine to continue to stay healthy for the upcoming holidays. What from this list helps you feel your best?? Share in the comments below what you can relate to!
