Have you ever tried a group fitness class? Well if you know me, you know I teach them and have been teaching them for 12 years now.
Besides the benefits below in the image here are some pointers:
1) Find a class format you ENJOY and is convenient for you to attend. If you enjoy it and its not out of your way, you are most likely going to go back.
2) Find an instructor that you like and is CERTIFIED. I cannot stress the certified part more. Yes, there are some great instructors who are not certified but I feel that a certified instructor is better and safer option. (This is MY opinion only) The reason being, they have to continue their education to stay certified. They are always learning new and safe techniques, ways to provide safe modifications and honestly just get it.
No instructor should ever be offended if you ask them where they got certified or what they are certified to teach (this is even more important for a personal trainer IMO)
3) Remember you are there for YOU. Don't let the background noise of the class or what others are doing distract you. You have goals for yourself. Lets work towards those.
4) Its okay to out grow the format. Just like instructors will teach different formats over the years, your love and results from some classes will change over time and that's OKAY. While we hate to see you leave, as an instructor, we are rooting for you to succeed.
Bottom line, fitness should not be a chore, should not be something you despise. It should be fun, functional and something you look forward to.
As always I hope to see you in my classes at the PCC and I am always a message away.
