It is estimated that Multiple Sclerosis (MS) affects 1 million people in the US and there are approximately 200 newly diagnosed individuals every week in the US. Did you know that individuals living in the southern US have a higher chance of being diagnosed with MS. And women have an even higher chance of being diagnosed. These statistics do not include the individuals who have been diagnosed with Clinically Isolated Syndrome (CIS), the first disease course of MS. These statistics are so difficult to maintain because of the fine line between the diagnosis criteria of CIS and MS, the number of individuals with CIS who are receiving disease modifying treatments to prevent MS, and the number of individuals with CIS who eventually develop MS.
I created this page to bring awareness of MS to the public and to help raise valuable funds for research, for medications for those who can’t afford them, for technologies and assistive equipment for those suffering from MS, and for campaigning for legislation aimed at making the lives of individuals with MS and other debilitating diseases more accommodating. Consider joining my page and learning more about MS and the lives it affects! And if it touches you to do so, donate to help bring about change!
