IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ANYONE IN OKLAHOMA WITH UNITED HEALTH AARP ADVANTAGE PLAN!!!!!
We received notice from United Healthcare regarding terminations of two of their MA plans IN OKLAHOMA. One of these is a D-SNP. The second one, AARP Medicare Advantage from UHC OK-0002, is an HMO-POS that currently operates in Oklahoma. I want to remind everyone that anyone who is currently enrolled in this plan (as well as the D-SNP plan that is terminating) has an opportunity to purchase a Medicare supplement plan according to rights grants them through the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, giving them Guarantee Issue Rights to choose a plan A, B, D, G, K, or L. These individuals will have 63 days from the termination of their current MA coverage to make this purchase, if they choose to go this route.
You also have the right to move to a different MA plan, if you so choose. To make sure they prescription drug coverage, you would either need to select an MA plan with drug coverage, or enroll in a stand-alone PDP if they decide they want to purchase a Medicare supplement policy.
For those individuals who may want to purchase a Medicare supplement policy, it will be important for you to explore the potential costs associated with that options BEFORE the end of the Open Enrollment Period, in case they decide that a Medicare supplement plan would be cost prohibitive for them and they would rather enroll in another Medicare Advantage plan.
With government shutdown, you will need to see your Medicare Counselor before Open Enrollment begins, so you are guaranteed a appointment for a Counselor to help you. There are limited Medicare Counselor's able to assist currently.
