Our Story

The purpose of the Coal County Genealogical Society is to encourage, support and promote awareness of family history in Coal County, and to assemble and maintain a family historical reference library. Coal County Genealogical Society business meeting is on the second Monday of each month at 10:00 AM at Coal County Public Library, 115 W. Ohio, Coalgate in the Genealogical Society Room. The Genealogical Library is open every Tuesday 10:00-12:00 Noon.
