When I was a child, my mom put my sister and I into semi-private swim lessons with a coach I would have for several years. My mom wanted her children to be water safe and strong swimmers. Little did she know that her choice of coach for us would have a much bigger impact on my life. Tina, my coach, taught me many things. She taught me how to swim, of course, but she also taught me perseverance (she wouldn't pass me from level 6 until I met the standard instead of merely the objective. If you've taken any type of Red Cross course you know what I'm talking about), she taught us how to think outside of the box to solve problems (how do you keep yourself afloat without a lifejacket while wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt), and she made learning fun (racing your sister and cousins across the pool while trying to hold an empty milk jug between your knees anyone?). Most importantly, she gave me the foundation that has served me well since I decided to make my career in Aquatics.
This fall, I would love to offer a WSI class to anyone who would like to get certified. I know from personal experience that in the Coeur d'Alene/Spokane area this hasn't been an easy certification to get or to maintain. This is the reason I chose to get certified as a WSI-T. I want to help others create, maintain, and add to thier own swim instructor foundations. To continue the passion and fun that my instructor gave to me.
If you or anyone you know are interested in becoming a WSI, getting your WSI certification again, or needing to recertify your WSI or you have questions about the WSI certification course, please comment below or dm me.
