You know that feeling when no amount of sleep seems to cut it? You drag yourself out of bed, reach for caffeine just to feel somewhat human, and by mid-afternoon, you’re either snapping at little things or feeling completely numb. 😭 Sometimes it’s both... wired but wiped out at the same time.

If this sounds familiar, it might be a sign that your STRESS RESPONSE SYSTEM is feeling the strain. Your ADRENAL GLANDS are part of a bigger conversation between your brain and body. They help regulate how you respond to stress, but when that system gets overworked, it can start showing up in ways that are hard to ignore.

‼️Signs your stress response might be out of balance:
• You wake up feeling just as tired as when you went to bed
• Cravings hit hard, especially for salty or sugary foods, when you’re stressed or wiped out
• You rely on coffee or sugar just to make it through the day
• Falling asleep is a struggle, even when you’re exhausted
• You feel more easily overwhelmed or anxious than usual

It’s easy to think this is just what being an adult feels like -- pushing through, staying busy, trying to keep it all together. But your body doesn’t just run on willpower. When it’s asking for support, it’s worth listening.

😀Where to start when your adrenals are tapped out:
• Make sure you’re eating real, nourishing meals at regular times, especially breakfast with some protein to keep your energy steady.
• Try to keep a consistent bedtime, even on weekends. Giving your body a predictable rhythm can help it reset.
• Build in some gentle movement, like a walk outside. Moving your body without pushing too hard can help bring your stress response down a notch.
• Take a few minutes before bed to breathe slowly, letting your body know it’s okay to wind down. Sometimes just sitting quietly can make a difference.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Really!!
Just start with one small change that feels doable. Whether it’s eating a better breakfast or taking a few deep breaths before bed, these little steps add up.

🌱🌼 Harnessing the Power of Phytoestrogens: Supporting Hormonal Balance!

Let’s explore the wonders of phytoestrogens - natural plant compounds that can work their magic in supporting hormonal balance! 💫🌿

Phytoestrogens are naturally occurring plant compounds that have a similar structure to estrogen, the primary female s*x hormone. While they are not as potent as the body’s natural estrogen, they can interact with estrogen receptors in the body and have both estrogenic and anti-estrogenic effects. This interaction with estrogen receptors allows phytoestrogens to support hormonal balance in several ways:

✅ Estrogen Modulation
Phytoestrogens can bind to estrogen receptors and mimic the effects of estrogen in the body. When estrogen levels are low, phytoestrogens can provide a mild estrogenic effect, helping to alleviate symptoms of estrogen deficiency.

✅ Estrogen Regulation
On the other hand, when estrogen levels are high, phytoestrogens can exert anti-estrogenic effects by competing with the body’s own estrogen for receptor binding. This can help to reduce the overall estrogenic activity when necessary.

✅ Hormone Equilibrium
Phytoestrogens help maintain a balance between estrogen and progesterone, another important female hormone. This equilibrium is essential for overall hormonal health and reproductive function.

It’s important to note that the effects of phytoestrogens can vary depending on the individual and the specific phytoestrogen compounds present in the diet.

Consuming a variety of foods rich in phytoestrogens, such as flaxseeds, chickpeas, and lentils, in moderation as part of a balanced diet can contribute to hormonal balance and overall health.

🌼 Have you heard about phytoestrogens before?

Client Check-In 👏
These are just a few of things she said to me during our consult.
“I feel like a different person!”
“My sleep has never been better.”
“I have more energy.”
“My gut feels so good.”
“I wish I had found you years ago!”

We’ve been working together for 2 months. She is literally besides herself with how good she feels. The power of functional testing allowed us to uncover the root causes of her current health issues and how she is feeling. On top of all of this, she has gained muscle and lost 5 pounds of body fat. So proud of the effort she is putting into her health and can’t wait for the 6 month mark! 🙌

Text from a client this week. ✨ Working on gut health first.
Having a nutrition & health plan focused on how the body functions and where you have imbalances, and based on your unique body is what we do here at Summit Nutrition.
This client did the Metabolomix+ test to identify nutrient deficiencies and look at different pathways and systems in her body so we could get to the root cause of her health issues and goals. 🤩

During initial consults most people I talk with are confused about supplements.

Why?
Because there is so much conflicting information out there. On one-hand we are told supplements are an important part of a healthy lifestyle because we just aren’t getting the right amount of nutrients from our diet. On the other hand, we are then told we are wasting our $ on supplements. 🤦‍♀️

Here’s where I stand.🧐
Every one of the thousands of chemical reactions that take place inside our bodies every second of every day is made possible by the work of enzymes and coenzymes in our body. Nearly all coenzymes are vitamins and minerals. For example, magnesium is responsible for activating more than 200 enzymes in the body. Vitamins and minerals play a crucial role in preventing disease.
Most of us don’t eat enough leafy greens and veggies to maintain proper levels of so many key nutrients. I also know from nutrition testing I offer to my clients that 95% percent of my clients are deficient in magnesium, omega 3’s and B vitamins.
This is why supplements are a key part of my recommendations to my clients.

❓Curious about your nutrient levels? Are you taking a handful of supplements, but you are not really sure why or if they are working? I can help guide you. Send me a DM to schedule a consult (in person or virtual).

Suffering from gut issues? THIS is why you need a personalized program! ⤵

As an FNTP, I've seen firsthand the transformative impact that personalized programs can have on individuals dealing with gut issues.

If you've been battling digestive discomfort, bloating, or other gut concerns, it's time to understand why a personalized approach is your 🗝️ to lasting relief and optimal well-being.

🦠 Your Gut Is Entirely Unique:
There's no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to gut health. What works for one person may not work for another. Your gut issues might stem from various factors, and a personalized program delves into these intricacies, uncovering the root causes of your discomfort.

🦠 Tailored Nutrition Plans:
Ever heard the phrase, "You are what you eat"? Well, it holds true, especially for gut health. A personalized program crafts a nutrition plan designed exclusively for you. It takes into account your food sensitivities, allergies, and dietary preferences.

🦠 Supplements with Precision:
I don't take a one-size-fits-all approach to supplements either. I analyze your unique biochemistry to recommend supplements that address your specific deficiencies and imbalances. No more guesswork; it's targeted, evidence-based support.

🦠 Lifestyle Adjustments:
Gut health extends beyond the plate. Stress, sleep, physical activity—they all play a role. A personalized program guides you in making lifestyle changes that complement your healing journey.

🦠 Comprehensive Testing:
Why guess when you can test? Personalized programs often include comprehensive testing to uncover the hidden culprits behind your gut issues. From microbiome analysis to food sensitivity testing, leave no stone unturned in understanding your unique physiology.

Remember, gut issues are not something you have to endure silently. There's a path to healing, and it begins with personalized care.

Ready to begin your journey back to health? Send me a DM.
