I LOVE the holidays!!! I love sipping warm drinks with my family. I love soups and stews. Mostly, I LOVE the treats!

We know excess sugar is detrimental to our health. We know alcohol poisons every cell in the body. The holidays make these vices and habits acceptable and then January comes and we all are sluggish, sick, and clinging to the hope that a New Years Resolution will hold up.

It’s a vicious cycle and I’m 100% done. These next two months will be dedicated to creating habits that will last, preventing disease, and optimizing mood and foundational health. Increased energy, libido, skin, and weight management will be a few perks!

Will I eat ZERO sugar- no. Will I drink ZERO alcohol- probably because I don’t really drink but I do not expect others to stop. Will I 100% enjoy the things that make the holiday special- YES!

There have been a frustrating amount of mono cases in town. What is mono??
Extreme fatigue lasting weeks to months
high fever, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, head and body aches, possible swollen liver or spleen, and rash. Sounds like hell, right??

The incubation period, where the virus multiplies without symptoms, is followed by the prodromal stage with mild, early symptoms. This is when symptoms can feel like a traditional flu. Then the acute phase where symptoms like fever, fatigue, and sore throat worsen really make you feel like you’ve been hit by a semi. Finally, the convalescent phase of gradual recovery and lingering fatigue begin.. and can last weeks to months. This infection is awful and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Talk to your kids (and adults) about sharing drinks and food, chapstick, and anything that can spread this saliva transmitted virus.
