‘Ego death’ is a misnomer but it’s easier to say than ‘releasing attachments’ and it’s also more dramatic, more fun to talk about. People relate to it. But I think everyone knows by now that the ego does really die.

The Star is number 17 in the major arcana of the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. This card is about hope. After a dark period, the light comes back. The figure shown is n**e, representing someone bearing their soul to the universe, and they pour water both on land and into a stream. This represents the connection to the physical world and the astral plane at the same time. Through spiritual learning and development, having learned some hard lessons about light and darkness, there is an equal connection with the divine and the earthly realm. The soul gains renewed hope that there is purpose in the world.
