Here are some tips for staying safe on Halloween:

Wear bright, reflective clothing: Make yourself more visible by wearing light colors and adding reflective tape to your costume or treat bag.

Choose the right costume: Make sure your costume is the right size and not too long so you don't trip.

Use face paint instead of a mask: Masks can limit your vision, so use face paint instead.

Obey traffic laws: Stop at stop signs, yield when appropriate, and use crosswalks and light signals.

Walk in groups: Avoid trick-or-treating alone, and walk with a trusted adult or in a group.

Plan a route: Choose a route in a familiar neighborhood with well-lit streets.

Inspect treats: An adult should always check treats before children eat them.

Carry a flashlight or glow stick: This will help you be seen by drivers.

Bring water: It's a good idea to bring water with you.

Keep away from open flames: Remind children to stay away from open fires and candles.

Happy 4th of July America! 🇺🇸 We will be closed on July 4th, but open on July 5th. Have a safe and wonderful time with your families.
The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues. The Fourth of July 2023 is on Tuesday, July 4.

Welcome to summer! Hopefully, everyone finished the school year off well. Remember, how hard you work in school will set you up for a better job and how hard you’ll work in life. Do your best and be proud of the people you are becoming. 👦🏻👧🏽👩🏼🧑‍🎓Please put safety first this summer. Use sunscreen, learn to swim, wear helmets, don’t go off places alone, and always keep your parents informed of where you are and who you are with. If you feel it’s wrong, it probably is!
We lose 3-5 children every summer here due to drowning. Swim lessons are an easy thing to do and will keep our little ones safe.

The YMCA says the younger you can get your child in to the pool, the better. See what life-saving tips they say we should all know. Plus, what to do if you fall off a boat!

We are so grateful to all our veterans and active duty service members for keeping us safe. Thank you to all our military families for the privilege of taking care of your children. We salute you and remember your sacrifices on this important Memorial Day weekend.

While everyone has the freedom to celebrate as they choose, Americans should also remember that this holiday is really a somber occasion to pause and reflect as a nation.

Wee Care Pediatrics wishes all our amazing mothers a Happy Mother’s Day!

Who created Mother's Day? Brittanica has the answer!
On May 10, 1908, American activist Anna Jarvis held what is considered to be the first Mother's Day celebration.
Jarvis was the 10th of 13 children born to Ann Reeves Jarvis, a social activist and Sunday school teacher, and Granville Jarvis. Only four of the couple’s children survived to adulthood. The family’s tragic loss of children was not unusual in the region of West Virginia where they lived; infant- and child-mortality rates there and throughout Appalachia were extraordinarily high, owing primarily to poor sanitary conditions and hygiene practices and the very limited availability of professional physicians. In 1858, while pregnant with her sixth child, Ann Jarvis began organizing what she called Mothers’ Day Work Clubs to educate families on proper precautions, such as boiling drinking water, to prevent the spread of disease.

🦇Happy Halloween! 💀

As always, it is insanely cold and snowing just before the kids go trick-or-treating. Bundle them up, be careful around streets, put reflectors on your children.
Check their candy carefully.
Trick or treat in places where you feel safe. There are lots of schools with trick-or-treat activities so little ones are safe, warm and indoors.

Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween, but not when it comes to child safety. Safe Kids has some more tips to help ensure a safe and fun Halloween.

Second, let me give a big hug and thank you to my amazing staff for filling in and keeping everything running in my absence. You all are truly the best. 💕
