The San Diego Humane Society is our next National Animal Shelter Awareness Week Hero! When we think of rescue shelters, we often think of domestic pets right? But you’ll be happy to know the San Diego Humane Society is looking out for our injured, sick and orphaned wild friends too!
Their wildlife rehabilitation program saves over 10,000 birds and mammals from 320 different species each year. Don’t worry though, they have plenty of… less wild animals for you to adopt as well!
It’s National Senior Pet Month, and we want to ensure your pet’s golden years are as comfortable and healthy as possible.

They offer day and week-long youth camps where children and teens can learn about animal safety, responsible pet parenting, animal enrichment, and interact with rescues. They still have day camp dates coming up, so why not check one out?

Deaf Dog Awareness Week is an opportunity to learn about this condition of specially-abled pets and how to manage their care with patience and support.
Deafness (in one or both ears) is common in senior dogs, and some breeds are known to be more susceptible.
While cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS) may be inevitable in some pets, there are ways to help slow its onset.
As your pet ages, scheduling two wellness exams per year can help detect any issues early. Talk to your VCA veterinarian for advice on CDS treatment, supplements and medicine.
