Hi everyone! Welcome and thanks for visiting SweetThings!!

Back in 2009 when I originally made this page I was a full time single mom with two young kids, a more than full time college student studying culinary arts with a minor in pastries and food service management, and working at a day center. I made the page because I liked to dream big! My dream was to have a small store front bakery, German style. Well, the following year I graduated with three associates degrees in the culinary arts.

Life happened and my dreams got put on hold. I eventually gave this dream a cubbie hole to live in. I went back to work in the medical field which had been my first love. But since my moms passing unexpectedly in 2017 I have not been happy in my life. I still love caring for my patients but unfortunately my heart is no longer in it. Recently a friend asked me to make a cake for her nieces baby shower party. I was so excited!! It was all I talked about. I even talked about it with my home care patients. One day one of them said why don’t you open a bakery? I told her all about my old dreams! I told her how the dream had changed and apparently my face lite up when I talked “shop”.

About this same time i was having a lot of problems with my right hand. A form of carpel tunnel and trigger finger. Most of it was caused but overuse and the repetitive work I do. I knew that injections would help but the only solution to avoid permanent damage was surgery. Well, I had surgery March 28, 2019 and came home to recover. Well, I decided to kick it in high gear and see if I can make this work. SO this is SweetThings, my home based cottage law based bakery with dreams & hopes of a store front opening Dec. 2020!
