🦇🎃!!HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!🎃 🦇

Although Halloween is a day of excitement and fun, we also have to remember that is can be a day of overstimulation to our friends with ASD. The day is filled with flashing lights, loud sounds, costumes, strangers, and surprises everywhere.

🧡 Here are a few friendly reminders for tonight:

🕯 Be patient and kind. Some children may not say “trick or treat” or “thank you” and that’s okay! They may still be building language, and communication looks different for everyone.

👀 Watch for sensory overload. Masks, loud noises, or flashing lights can be too much for some kids. A calm smile and gentle tone go a long way.

🎧 Remember — participation looks different for everyone. Some children may skip costumes, need headphones, or stay close to a caregiver.

Let’s make Halloween fun and inclusive for all kids. Kindness and understanding make the best treats of all. 🍬✨

Happy Halloween from your friends at OrangeFox ABA. 🧡🦊
We wish you a safe, happy, and spooky Halloween! 👻

October is AAC Awareness Month 🖥️🧡

AAC, or Augmentative and Alternative Communication is a form of communication utilized by individuals that are non-verbal. Many Individuals within the Autism community rely on these devices to communicate, connect, and express themselves.
For individuals without a voice, these devices are what bring to life to their voices and help them engage with the world around them.

As a society, not only do we need to be more aware of the differences amongst us, we need to accept, empower, and support them. If we want to see genuine change, inclusivity is the first step! 🫂❤️

The world is not a “one size fits all”, and the more we begin appreciating each other’s differences, the more they become accepted.

📚✏️ Back to School Season Is Here 🎒🧩

As students head back to the classroom, this time of year brings excitement, nerves, and new beginnings. But for parents and educators of children with autism, it also brings unique challenges and opportunities.

💙 For parents, it's about preparing your child for new routines, advocating for their needs, and trusting the team that supports them.

💡 For educators, it's about creating inclusive spaces, embracing neurodiversity, and working with families to make sure every child feels safe, supported, and seen.

Let’s remember:
✅ Routine can be comforting—but transitions take time.
✅ Communication between home and school is everything.
✅ Patience, empathy, and flexibility go a long way.

This back-to-school season, let’s show up for our students, and for the people who love and teach them. 💛

🌱 Children grow at their own pace 🌱

Every child’s journey is unique, and that’s especially true for children with autism. Comparing their growth or milestones to those of neurotypical children doesn’t just miss the point, it can overshadow the incredible progress they are making, in their own way, on their own timeline.

To parents and educators: you are not alone. The path may look different, and at times, it may feel uncertain. But every small step, every quiet triumph, every moment of connection matters more than any comparison ever could.

As parents, educators, or family members of the autism community, you're doing better than you think, and so are they. 🧡

Individuals with ASD do not process sensory input the way neurotypical individuals do. In fact, they often experience things far more intensely.

This is why we must slow down, modify our approach, and cater to the individuals needs. When experiencing overstimulation, it is so important to take a step back, and meet them where they are. The more time we spend understanding their world, the better equipped we are to support them when theirs becomes too loud, too bright, or too overwhelming. 🫂💚

ABA therapy is often misunderstood. Some believe it’s rigid or the same for every child, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

It’s tailored to your child’s unique strengths, needs, and routines, helping them build meaningful skills in a way that works best for them.

Whether it’s supporting communication, daily routines, or social development, ABA meets your child where they are, and helps them grow from there. 🧡

Play and Communication: A Powerful Pair in ABA! 🧩🗣️

Play is more than just fun — it’s a foundation for learning! In ABA therapy, play skills and communication go hand in hand. Through play, children learn to take turns, express wants and needs, build relationships, and develop language.

Whether it's pretending, sharing, or simply asking for a toy — at Orange Fox, every opportunity for play is an opportunity to foster growth!
