Sound familiar?
I'm too much.
too tall
too loud
too big
too sexy
too open
too messy
too weird
I make people uncomfortable.
or
I'm not enough.
too thin
too short
too quiet
too slow
too invisible
too closed off
I'm not attractive enough
I bore people.
I don't belong.
Or when it comes to your dreams and goals do these sound familiar?
I don't know what I'm doing.
Everyone else has more talent/skill/knowledge than I do.
I'll never succeed.
I'm hopeless.
Do you fear that you will never find a place where you belong?
Do you fear that you will live your whole life without finding the acceptance that you long for?
Are you afraid that you will never reach your goals because imposter syndrome convinces you that you don't have what it takes?
The thing is, when we learn how fully accept ourselves, the way we wish others would, we lose the need for that same affirmation from others. We carry it inside ourselves. Sure, it's still great to have other people compliment us or affirm us, but we don't need it in the same way.
Our relationships become more genuine because we no longer have the deep agenda of trying to make people
like us. We no longer and deeply longing for them to fill something in us. We bring our whole selves to the relationship with confidence.
