It’s not all about treating a horse with cryotherapy, sometimes it’s more then coming and doing the session it can go to much more…
Today we met this young filly that injured her hock and was majorly swollen, well we don’t sedate the horse to do cryo so it became a teaching experience for this young lady and I went back to my roots of teaching.
We grabbed an empty CO2 bottle that would still make the noise from the air passing through the sub zero and went out to the arena with her owners and turned on the machine and started to desensitize her with pressure and release since she was in total flight mode, after a little time she finally came to realize we weren’t going to hurt her and we were able switch to a full bottle of CO2 and help with the swelling and pain as you see in the photo.
It’s not all about it only take a few minutes to do a session, it comes down to sometimes it may take 30 minutes to to get to the actual session and have to go back to my roots of working with the horse so they realize I’m not here to hurt them.
I love horses and will treat my clients horse just like my own so I can help them, it’s not about how many I can do it’s about I’m with this one right now and how can I help this one. I have lots of knowledge about horse, I don’t know everything and I’m always learning and am not afraid to ask for advice to help this current horse.
