All the conflicting health advice out there can be super overwhelming, I know! I’ve slogged through a lot of it over the last 15 years.

What I wanted to do was distill it down to what will create the 👉most positive change👈 based on your biological design as a human and physiological needs as a woman.

The stuff that makes up the bedrock foundations of our design.

The practical concepts that are actually pretty darn simple. Low-hanging fruit, if you will. 🍒🍎🥝

The problem is that most of us ignore the simple stuff!!! We’re either:

1/ paralyzed into inaction because , or

2/ jumping straight to fancy protocols, extreme diets, cleanses, tons of labs and supplements, complicated “detoxes,” or hardcore 30-day programs.

But if you are not:
-Breathing properly
-Hydrating with more than just plain water
-Spending time outside
-Moving your freaking body every day
-Eating enough to fuel yourself
-Cultivating at least a little self-compassion
-Having any fun at all in your life

… then let’s to do it together! 🤗

Anchored is a 6-week small group coaching series for women who are ready to lock into the foundational rhythms of a thriving life.

If this is for you, I hope you’ll join me! Anchored group coaching starts tomorrow (but if you have schedule conflicts, you can watch the weekly recordings later).

This is for women who:

…may know what they “should” be doing, but find themselves unable to follow through.

…have no clue what they “should” be doing, but want to learn how to set a solid foundation of nutrition and movement for a life of vitality.

…are overwhelmed by all the health advice, protocols, bio hacks, and tools out there and want to clear that noise.

…have tried “all the things” to feel better, have more energy, or heal, but haven’t seen the needle move much when it comes to quality of life.

…feel like they’re just being swept along in the chaos of life, but want to anchor in with a solid foundation.

A lot of people come to me with health questions. Which I love.

I guess I’ve developed a reputation for being a bonafide health nerd who really loves sharing what I’ve discovered with people who want to learn about it.

Maybe they recognize that the pharmaceutical industry can’t bring them health (or it’s done them dirty) and they want a more natural approach.

It can be difficult to wade through the massive amounts of conflicting information in the natural and ‘alternative’ health spaces. That is, if you can even get to that information past the multiple pages of mainstream propaganda that inevitably show up on Internet search engines.

Talking to an actual human with whom you have some level of relational equity and trust can be a preferable method of learning these days.

I’m honored that people think of me when they’re searching for answers to health questions.

-

Most of the time, people’s questions sound like this:

PART ONE: I’ve been dealing with _____ (allergies, reflux, melasma, night sweats, headaches, irregular cycles, etc).
PART TWO: Do you think _____ (xyz supplement, homeopathy, functional foods, red light therapy, castor oil packs, etc) will help?

My answer is usually — sure, they could, BUT …

As much as we all wish that there could just be a supplement for every symptom that you can easily plug & play, there almost never is.

What I always want to know is — what does the rest of your life look like?

Because if you’re skipping meals, scrolling your phone late at night, and the only time you spend outdoors is walking through the parking lot into the grocery store … then no, that expensive tool or random supplement probably isn’t going to make a difference.

If you spend your day under fluorescent lights and your life is fueled by caffeine and cortisol … then no, a castor oil pack is not going to be very helpful.

The irony is that I actually love and use all the things I listed above. And I find them to be immensely helpful in supporting my body.

But without anchoring your life to the foundations first, none of those things are going to do much for you.

It’s like majoring in the minors.

We have to walk before we run.

-

So, what should you be looking to anchor into first?

These are the areas that I consider foundational:

Quality light exposure + time outdoors
Moving your body regularly
Adequately fueling with nourishing foods
Tending to internal flow (lymph, digestion, emotions, etc)
Tuning in to your nervous system
Real rest and quality sleep
Doing things just for fun

(That last one is actually pretty important. How can you be truly healthy if you’re not enjoying the life you’re living?)

Be honest, I probably didn’t have to tell you those things, did I? You already know those are the things you’re ‘supposed’ to be doing. Eat right and exercise, get enough sleep, yeah, yeah, yeah …

But knowing something and actually implementing it are two very different things.

Don’t underestimate the power of being consistent with the simple stuff.

Anchor into the foundations FIRST, then let’s talk about the extras. If you even need them at that point. 😉

A kite without a string is battered and tossed by the wind. But anchor it properly and watch it soar.

I believe we experience the most freedom within boundaries.

For some people, the idea of boundaries and anchors might trigger mental images of cages, barbed wire, or a ball and chain. It feels restrictive. Rigid. You feel trapped.

Maybe it reminds you too much of that hardcore diet that your mom went on (or was that you, too?) where she ate salad three meals a day and saved up Weight Watchers points. Maybe you still feel the resentment of being forced into an early bedtime when siblings were allowed to stay up late and have all the fun. Maybe you believe that any sort of health 'program' or 'protocol' will be hard, joyless, and suck the fun out of life.

To be fair, many of those so-called 'health' programs actually do suck the joy out of life.

And I've been there myself. I've ridden the almond-everything train. The absolutely-zero-sugar-in-any-form train. The cauliflower-everything train. The plant-based 'superfoods' train. The supplement-for-every-symptom train.

I rode those trains because I believed it was what I 'should' do. Restrict food groups, eat unnatural amounts of nuts and vegetables, stay on a strict diet, and definitely don't eat anything that's not on the current hardcore detox plan.

None of these things did much of anything for me. Other than leave me frustrated, undernourished, and with almost no real resilience to stress.

Which is why I no longer have any need for them.

But lest you think I'm advocating for throwing up your hands and running off into the sunset of modern convenience culture, I also have plenty of lived experience on the other end of that spectrum. The one where I had zero body awareness. I ate cheap, processed, hyper-palatable (read: addictive) 'food.' And I wandered through life feeling like p**p, not realizing what was possible.

But thank goodness there are more than two options.

~Rhythm and Routine~

What I’ve come to appreciate is the development of a beautiful harmony between structure and flexibility. It’s routine without rigidity. It’s being flexible without being totally sporadic. I like to think of it as an anchoring.

Children and animals thrive on a predictable routine. And so do adults. We just tend to forget that in the way we live. And I’m not talking about living on auto-pilot where you go through the same old motions day in and day out, rinse, and repeat.

I’m talking about intentionally setting a solid framework on which to build your life.

And it’s actually pretty simple. I know it’s tempting to get distracted by fancy biohacking tools or extreme programs that promise to radically change your life in 30 days.

It’s easy to skip over what sounds too simple to make a real difference. After all, eating breakfast and going to bed at a decent hour don’t sound all that sexy.

But when you get consistent with the foundations, you discover a rootedness, an anchoring to your life that builds resilience.

Living an anchored life means consistently practicing the simple, foundational rhythms and routines that provide the bedrock for actual wellbeing in a life that you enjoy living.

~Ready for Resilience~

I’m sure you’re thinking you must need more than sunlight and taking yourself on daily walks. And maybe you do. But without the anchoring of the foundations in place, you’ll likely find yourself getting tossed from one ‘miracle supplement’ to the next like a kite without a string.

And how enjoyable has that been for you so far? If you’ve been chasing down the next big thing for years, or if your daily life feels unpredictable and chaotic, what would peace and resilience feel like?

I invite you to find out. Dig deep to find that ounce of self-compassion inside you that will say yes to putting in the work. To developing disciplines, rhythms, routines. To anchoring your life so you can soar.

I heard the phrase “agree with your calendar” on a podcast recently and had to pause the playback to write it down!

Over recent months I’ve really had to ask myself if my consistent daily, weekly, monthly activities were promoting or hindering my growth and healing. Just as a human.

Was I building the kind of life I wanted to live?

Was I willing to think differently about how to get to living that life?

I want to encourage you ➡️ Small, simple steps done consistently can have a hugely positive effect. (Probably more so than you currently think they can.)

But we have to be willing to take that first step. And then keep taking those steps. Agree with your calendar. 🗓️
