Still processing the love and power I experienced at the Birth Worker Awards Gala, hosted by the I was honored (and shocked!) to receive the Innovation in Birth Work Award: a recognition for those pioneering new approaches to care that address disparities in maternal health through research, education, and transformative practice.

To be seen and heard by my sisters in this sacred work… it touched a part of me that words can’t fully capture. Being surrounded by so many incredible, influential Black women; each of us fighting for the same purpose: to nurture, protect, and uplift our mothers and their families was truly a divine experience.

Working alongside these powerful women during Black Maternal Health Week has challenged me, taught me, blessed me, and reminded me that I am not alone in this calling. I am honored to have stood in that room, and I carry this moment with so much gratitude.

To my village: thank you. For the patience, the encouragement, love, and the way you show up for me over and over again. Your love holds me up and I am blessed. Ain’t no village like the one I got!

And to my Husband…my Husband: thank you for sending me off with love before every birth, opening the door and caring for me when I return, and for standing by me through the long nights, early mornings, and while I pursue my degree. Your unwavering support and quiet strength have carried me more times than I can count. I love you deep.

Let’s keep doing this work. For the mamas. For the babies. For the generations to come.

✨Let’s Talk About It✨
Trained doulas who are trained to identify and support families who are experiencing PMADs are equipped to support and connect families to the right resources. I always ensure my families that they are supported and informed every step of the way. When interviewing your doula make sure that they are trained, trauma informed, and knowledgeable of PMADs. Doulas are essential to your birth and postpartum journey and we are here to support you.
