Did you know that it's Parkinson's Awareness Month?

At Residences at Vantage Point, Parkinson’s Awareness Month 2026 centers on engagement, education and measurable impact. From April 1 through April 11, residents are participating in the “Stand Up to Parkinson’s” challenge. Specifically, this initiative supports a nationwide effort to represent nearly one million Americans living with Parkinson’s disease. Participants complete daily sit-to-stands, aiming for at least 100 repetitions each day. In addition, residents may include squats completed during group exercise classes. By tracking progress daily, participants can clearly measure their contributions. As a result, each movement will directly support awareness and advocacy.

One of the great ways to introduce yourself to the Residences at Vantage Point community is by joining us for one of our Arts and Culture Collective presentations. We invite local talent to tell us a little about what they do and what is going on with arts and culture in Columbia. Coming up, we have:

"The Author Next Door" with HCC instructor George Clack in a conversation with Youth Poet Laureate Penelope Tofigh and novelist Tudor Alexander on Friday, April 10th.

"New Homes for the Arts" will feature Dave Simmons, Director of Programming for the Merriweather Arts & Culture Center, and Phillip Dodge, Executive Director of the Downtown Columbia Partnership, talking about the impact of three new arts venues – Columbia Association Lakefront Bandshell, Performing Arts Center, and new Central Library on April 24th.

And a look a theater with “Staging Ground,” where Mark Minnick, Artistic Producer of Toby’s Dinner Theatre and Brynn Williams, Program and Education Director, Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts, will discuss plans for Toby’s and CCTA once construction is completed on the Performing Arts Center where they will be relocated. This talk is on May 8.

All presentations are from 11 till noon in our auditorium, are free, and open to the public. We encourage you to join us!
