Have I had the incredible honor of serving you on your pregnancy and birth journey over the last 6 years?
If so the biggest blessing and repayment you could ever give me, is to write a google or Facebook review about your experience.
As the slow closing of one chapter of my birth work begins, and I prepare for a new chapter to start in the coming months, I want to remember through your eyes. I’d love to hear the words and perspective you had. I pray I’m the hands and feet of the Father, with a spirit like Shiphrah to each and every one of you.
I’d also love for future doula and birth clients alike to hear the story only you tell. Your support is always appreciated. As life gets a little crazier, and i take more and more steps in the direction of my dreams, I’m so thankful for every path I’ve crossed and every life I’ve been a part of.🌿

International midwives day ✨
There aren’t enough words to describe the love, community and support I’ve found from these midwives. The way they have healed parts of me that I didn’t even know needed healed, and everything they have taught me I will forever be thankful for. They stretch me, and give me the opportunity to gain confidence. They believe in me when I don’t believe in myself. All while most importantly holding space and serving mothers. The opportunity to learn and serve along side them is an honor. This last year has been nothing short of incredible, as it was about this time a year ago, that I really started my apprenticeship. To think one day I won’t be attending every birth with them makes my heart hurt just a little bit, but I know that they will have taught me well and I will be carrying them with me wherever I go. I will be the midwife I am thank to them.
Not just this team that I’m a part of but so many midwives that bless my community every day I am so thankful for. I like to think we’re blessed with some of the best. If you know a midwife or are a midwife recognize them today. Love them, and treat them extra special as the job of a Midwife is nothing short of holy work. One day will simply never be enough to honor this incredibly important and sacred work.

Midwifery care is family centered care.
Unless doing something clinical and necessary, midwives aren’t in your space. They don’t come between you and dad, and they don’t direct the room. Midwives welcome grandmas, and siblings. Often holding big brother, or hugging a nana.
The art of midwifery involves sitting on your hands and holding space, usually most of the time. Praying in the corner while the veil thins. Being an intercessor before being an intervener. It’s knowing when and if skills are needed, and praying they really aren’t. Midwifery is respectful, holy work.

As we enter the week of international midwives day, I hope to share this perspective more. I hope you love and cherish your midwives for not only the education and intelligence, they bring to your birth, with the emotional strength and spiritual connection and weight they leave at your door, but then walk out of every birth with.

The year of repeats and oh so special births.🌿
Three over lapping pregnancies, 2 births, 2 years apart that my newest babies also got to attend. These births and these friends are so special to me and I’m honored to have been invited into their birth space again. To sit in bed at the end of baby number 3 and nurse my number 3 along side her is a story I’ll tell my grand children. Thank you to this sweet family for allowing me to sit in your sacred space, and watch the veil thin once more,

Zinc seems to have antimicrobial effects on multiple GBS strains....

One of the things that makes GBS so hard to kill and why it can be so toxic is that it is capsulated, containing carbohydrate antigens. There are several species divided into types (Ia, Ib, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX) based on the surface antigens. The outer structure of the bacteria contains hairs that help it grab to other cells. They also form beta-hemolysin, a toxin that causes hemolysis (RBC cell death). It has a cool trick of for avoiding neutrophils as well (the first line of defence in the immune system).

That being said, in most people it is harmless and just a part of the microbiome. 35% of women carry this bacteria, and of that 35% who get pregnant

“Encouraging balance in the body throughout pregnancy can significantly improve the birthing experience. Chiropractic care, such as the Webster Technique, works to align the pelvis and reduce tension in the supporting ligaments. This creates space for the baby to move into an ideal position for birth.

In cases where a marginal placenta previa or tight ligaments are affecting the uterus, soft tissue techniques like craniosacral therapy or fascial release can encourage the tissues to relax and unfold, giving the baby more room to position themselves correctly.

Diet and hormonal health also play a crucial role. For instance, low thyroid function is associated with breech presentation and preeclampsia. Regular monitoring and adjustments during pregnancy can support both parent and baby’s health. These interventions aim not to ‘fix’ the body but to support its innate ability to balance and adapt.” –Kristen Hosaka DC, CACCP

Babies and buggies. What a blessed early spring I’m getting to experience. Many of my days are filled with these sights. Sweet babies in bellies. Laundry hanging. Animals emerging. Bent and dent stores. Snacks on the road. My own baby going from house to house and being loved on by little children that don’t even understand my words. Being a birth worker that serves the plain community has become one of my greatest joys. Student midwife life is a blessing. ♥️

He is so good ✨
From the time I was a young teenager, the Lord put the deep seated desire to take His love into all the nations. When I got the call to midwifery He combined both desires and gave me clear focus to be a missionary midwife. Time and time again this calling and direction has been confirmed and once more, He’s given me a once in a lifetime opportunity.
After much prayer, seeking council and wisdom, a door has been opened that we feel is only Him.
This summer I’ll be partnering with the materna foundation to go into El Salvador and Guatemala to provide prenatal care and education and postpartum/lactation support. I’ll then be going to work at a birth center to gain hands on education in a third world county, while also supplying needed hands to their busy midwives.
The team going will also contain a SLP, IBCLC and OT. The ultimate goal is not only to serve, but bring a level of expertise to materna in how they can improve their resources and education.
As a student I am working towards my certified international midwifery certification and this trip will push me further towards that goal, by giving me vital experience.
I’m praying now simply for the funds to be there. As a student, my income is limited, and so I’m putting it in His hands to supply every need.
If maternal health is close to your heart, or supporting families that have little to nothing, I’d so appreciate if you supported this trip.
My first deposit of $500 to secure my ticket is due by 02/28. If it’s His will, it’ll only be through His way

If you feel led to partner with me financially, I have a give send go linked below.
I also have venmo: , and zelle!

If you want to read more about what materna is doing check it out below!

All prayers are appreciated that God continues to show up and provide direction and protection.

Our Story

Who I am..

Welcome, I am The Birth Collaborative. I am a mother to an angel baby. I am a wife. I am a vegan. I am a space holder. I am a researcher. I am an educator. I am a friend. I am an advocate. I am a support. I am a confidant. I am a midwifery assistant. I am a doula.

My name is Hanna and I founded The Birth Collaborative in August of 2019. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and I have been married to my high school sweetheart since October of 2016. In early 2017, I went on a health journey that forever changed my life. I began researching a plant based diet to heal my body. Down the rabbit hole of enlightenment, I discovered the midwifery model of care and knew this was a path I wanted to be on. After several years of questioning my calling, I finally took the plunge into birth work. My first step in the process was to become a doula. I quickly fell in love with supporting women during their crossover into motherhood. I want to do nothing more than watch women come into their power as they navigate their beautiful pregnancy and labor journey. I feel called above all else in life to be a space holder for the sacredness of birth. Although the picture shown is not myself, this embodies how I want every mother to feel during pregnancy and birth.
