The holidays can be a time of joy, celebration l, and gratitude. But they can also be a time of stress, anxiety, and hormonal imbalance. If youโ€™re feeling overwhelmed by the demands of family, friends, work, or yourself, youโ€™re not alone. Many women experienced fluctuations in their hormones during this season, which can affect their mood, energy, appetite, sleep, and overall well-being.

But donโ€™t worry, there are some simple and natural ways to keep your hormones in balance over the holidays. Here are some tips that Iโ€™ve learned ed Fri experts and research:

๐ŸŽ„Eat protein-rich foods like eggs, chicken, lentils, fish, nuts, and dairy.
๐ŸŽ„Exercise regularly to improve blood flow, insulin, and cortisol.
๐ŸŽ„Limit caffeine to one or two cups a day or drink decaf or herbal teas.
๐ŸŽ„Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day y avoid dehydration.
๐ŸŽ„Have a consistent sleep schedule and avoid screens, heavy meals, alcohol, and noise before bed.
๐ŸŽ„Move more throughout the day by taking stairs, walking, biking, doing chores, or dancing.
๐ŸŽ„Breathe deeply from your diaphragm to calm your nerves and lower cortisol.
๐ŸŽ„Enjoy traditions that make you happy and grateful and share them with your loved ones.

Some examples of traditions that make me feel good are:
โ€ข Spending time with my family and friends by having meaningful conversations m, playing games, watching movies, or cooking together.
โ€ข Helping someone in need by donating clothes, food, or toys.
โ€ข Giving myself a home facial and pedicure.

Remember, you donโ€™t have to do everything perfectly or please everyone else to enjoy the holidays. Just do what feels right for you and celebrate yourself.๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

The holidays are here, and we all know what that means: delicious food, festive drinks, and cozy gatherings with our loved ones. ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŽ


But while we enjoy the season of indulgence, we also want to take care of our gut health, which is essential for our overall well-being. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Did you know that your gut is home to trillions of bacteria, fungi, and viruses that make up your microbiome? These microbes affect your digestion, immunity, mood, and more. ๐Ÿฆ 


So how can you support your gut health over the holidays? Here are some tips:

๐ŸŒŸEat more fiber-rich foods, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. Fiber feeds the good bacteria in your gut and helps prevent constipation. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿฅœ๐Ÿž

๐ŸŒŸDrink plenty of water, herbal teas, and probiotic drinks, such as kefir, kombucha, or yogurt. These beverages hydrate your body, flush out toxins, and replenish your gut flora. ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿต๐Ÿฅ›

๐ŸŒŸAvoid or limit foods and drinks that can irritate your gut, such as alcohol, caffeine, sugar, processed foods, and spicy foods. These can cause inflammation, bloating, and acid reflux. ๐Ÿทโ˜•๐Ÿฌ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŒถ

๐ŸŒŸManage your stress levels, as stress can negatively affect your gut health. Try to relax, meditate, exercise, or do something that makes you happy. ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŽจ

๐ŸŒŸGet enough sleep, as sleep is vital for your gut health. Aim for at least seven to eight hours of quality sleep every night. Avoid using your phone, computer, or TV before bed, as they can disrupt your circadian rhythm. ๐Ÿ˜ด๐ŸŒ™๐Ÿ“ต

The holiday season is here, and I know we all love to indulge in some delicious treats. But did you know that you can still enjoy the festive flavors without compromising your health goals? ๐Ÿ˜


Here are some of my favorite healthy holiday swaps that are easy to make and taste amazing:

โ–ซ๏ธInstead of eggnog, try almond milk with nutmeg and cinnamon. It has fewer calories and less sugar, but still gives you that cozy feeling. ๐Ÿฅ›
โ–ซ๏ธInstead of candy canes, try fresh or dried fruit. They are naturally sweet and rich in vitamins and antioxidants. ๐Ÿ“
โ–ซ๏ธInstead of gingerbread cookies, try oatmeal cookies with molasses and ginger. They are lower in fat and higher in fiber and have a similar spicy taste. ๐Ÿช
โ–ซ๏ธInstead of mashed potatoes, try cauliflower mash. It has less carbs and more fiber, and you can season it with garlic and herbs. ๐Ÿฅ”
โ–ซ๏ธInstead of pecan pie, try baked apples with pecans and honey. It has less sugar and more fruit, and you can top it with some yogurt or whipped cream. ๐Ÿฅง

๐Ÿ”Simple swaps to improve your gut health

What you eat impacts your gut health, your immune system, and your mental health. So, you want to feed the good bacteria, not kill it!

There are things in our diet & lifestyle that are depleting our good gut bugs. Here are just a few:
โ€ขOur over-sanitized modern world: kills both good & bad bacteria
โ€ขOur food is pasteurized, irradiated, or chemically treated to kill bugs, including the good stuff
โ€ขOur soil is depleted of good bacteria & nutrients secondary to pesticides & other chemical contaminants
โ€ขOur Western diet full of processed foods, refined flours & sugars, and artificial sweeteners alters the balance between good & and bacteria in our gut

Recent studies show that 70% of your immune system and 95% of your serotonin is in your gut.

So, consume more probiotic rich foods and whole fruits, vegetables, & grains along with taking a good quality probiotic.๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿซ˜๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿณ

And, eat/drink less refined white flours & sugars, alcohol, soda (diet or regular), artificial sweeteners, and processed foods.๐Ÿฅค๐Ÿช๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŸ

Some of my favorite probiotic rich foods are sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, and yogurt. I also take a good quality probiotic daily.

The diversity of plants you eat feed the diversity of bugs in your gutโ€”leading to more balance and an overall better gut. ๐‡๐จ๐ฐ you eat matters as much as ๐–๐ก๐š๐ญ you eat๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

Do you want to improve your digestion and feel better after every meal?๐Ÿฅ˜

If yes, then you need to follow these four simple steps that will make a huge difference in how your body processes the food you eat. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Step 1: Activate Rest & Digest
Before you start eating, take a moment to relax and calm your mind. This signals your parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for digestion and absorption of nutrients. Take three slow deep breaths before each meal, and practice being present and grateful for the food in front of you. ๐Ÿ™

Step 2: Chew, chew, chew!
Donโ€™t rush through your meal, but savor every bite. Chew slowly and thoroughly, at least 25-30 times per mouthful (yes, you read that right!). This helps break down the food and makes it easier for your stomach and intestines to digest. Put your fork down between bites to slow down, and practice mindful eating using your senses. Notice the colors, textures, flavors, and aromas of your food, and focus on enjoying every bite. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Step 3: Eat without distractions
Eating while watching TV, scrolling through your phone, or working on your laptop can distract you from your meal and make you overeat or under-chew. It can also interfere with your digestion and cause bloating, gas, or indigestion. So, sit at a table, not technology or TV, and enjoy your company around the table or a peaceful meal alone. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Step 4: Hold the water
Drinking water is essential for your health, but not during your meals. Drinking water while eating can dilute your stomach acid and enzymes, which are needed to digest your food properly. It can also make you feel full faster and prevent you from chewing well. So, drink water between meals, and hold the water during meals. This promotes healthy stomach acid production, which aids the digestion of your food. ๐Ÿ’ง

Follow these four steps and see how your digestion improves and your energy levels soar. Trust me, your body will thank you for it. ๐Ÿ™

โค๏ธI love this quote: "Everything happens precisely when it should. No need to rush destiny or force the journey, nor should you passively wait for outcomes. Keep moving forward, do your part, and have faith that your consistent effort will eventually bring the rewards you seek."

It reminds me to be patient and trust the process, but also to take action and work hard for my goals.
