I have the honor to train People with Parkinson’s at PDNextSteps. Jessica Walcott Krauser, one of our gym members, started the 5kforjk Parkinson's Event several years ago. This event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help our gym members and their families and to be donated to the The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and their work to find a cure for Parkinson’s.

The 2025 5kforJK is coming up on September 15. The PDNextSteps team goal is to raise $20,000. Please consider donating to this worthy cause as we continue to offer amazing programs that include exercise classes, educational events, and support for caregivers. Here’s the link for donation. THANK YOU for your support!

Back in 2020, as we were on lockdown, several friends asked me to teach a yoga class on Zoom. This small group has grown and we now have 2 classes. The intent of these yoga classes is to help you calm your mind, clam your nervous system, and take time to breath as you tune into your body and move through asanas (poses) to feel better as you go through your days. Our focus is mindful, slow paced movement and breathwork. Each session is 10 weeks long and the cost for 10 classes is $50. Please reach out if you would like to join us and I will email you the Zoom information. You may contact me at naomi.barban.hoyt@gmail.com. Peace and love, Naomi

Sometimes I struggle with this as an instructor - do I need to lead unique practices every time I teach? And then I remember this - familiarity and boredom open the path to further self discovery and benefits. Instead of lots of variety let’s embrace space and time to look inward.

This podcast does an excellent job of exploring disordered eating, eating disorders, chronic dieting and the societal and diet industry influences. Trying to change how I view my own body and my relationship to food has been a lifelong struggle. I hope that you will find this episode as helpful as I have.
