For many people (…and nearly ALL who have culturally been pummeled with messaging around extreme dieting or excessive workout routines…) stress is often a huge element of health we ignore, in pursuit of chasing a goal or body type that is unnatural and actually unhealthy!

But what if the stress from over-thinking your eating decisions is worse than the food you’re over-thinking?!

If you struggle with obsessive calorie counting, have chronically yo-yo dieted with an “all or nothing” mindset, or over exercise based on what you ate… you might be focusing on the wrong health pillar 🤔

Improving stress is often linked to things like longevity, disease prevention and aging, which is all true.. but also.. it will improve your present self and day-to-day experience moving through the world, too 🙌

This is a prompt I often explore with health coaching clients and retreat participants who struggle with obsessive or simply over-thinking tendencies with food.

For many people (…and nearly ALL people who have culturally been pummeled with messaging around extreme dieting or excessive workout routines…) stress is often a huge element of health we ignore, in pursuit of chasing a goal or body type that is unnatural and actually unhealthy!

If you struggle with obsessive calorie counting of simply not listening to the natural hungry cues your body is telling you, you might be focusing on the wrong pillar of your health 🤔

Stress can be a massive core factor for a variety of things from inflammation to disease, physical pain to gut health challenges, and shouldn’t be overlooked!

Finishing up a two week trip to Japan, with so many reflections. One of them is how gentle the approach to movement is here - and how correlated it is to not just longevity for the future, but happiness in the present.

I preach this constantly, sometimes maybe too much 😅 but the best workout plan is the one that you enjoy. Consistency over intensity. And enjoyment in your life and routine is better than beating yourself up to chase some future version of yourself - because you actually are enough right now, even if you want to develop or work on parts of yourself.

Finishing up a two week trip to Japan, with so many reflections. One of them is how gentle the approach to movement is here - and how correlated it is to not just longevity for the future, but happiness in the present.

Saturday’s Men’s Retreat was one of the most powerful days I’ve experienced, and one I will never forget.

When I got home that night, I sat in the dark listening to music and processing the incredible stories, wisdom and courage of every man who showed up, along with a deeply renewed sense of purpose and commitment to this work.

Proud of every person who showed up, removed their armor, and shared their deepest, truest selves in a room of safety and support that isn’t typically felt in daily life.

Grateful for my brother Adam Christie for co-creating this offering and being a constant source of wisdom and accountability, and thankful for my friend Evan Karcie for helping bring this day together and sharing his own journey every step of the way.

Sometimes, the healthiest thing we can do has nothing to do with calories and nutrition.

Nothing to do with sweat and heart rate.

Nothing to do with what others are doing, or what anyone will think.

Often the healthiest thing is to simply to use movement as a vehicle to tap into deeper parts of yourself, to tune in, and see what comes up. That was the reminder on yesterday’s run ☀️
