ACOG has recognized these very outdated practices that I STILL see in the hospitals all the time that can lead to unnecessary cesareans.

Avoiding these interventions will create better birth outcomes. We talk about these in my monthly Lamaze classes. Come get educated with me!

Next class is Saturday August 23rd 9-12pm on Zoom. I still have a few spots left (I like to keep these classes small and intimate).

It’s National Breastfeeding Month! 🤍

Here’s to the late nights, the learning curves, the quiet snuggles, and the deep connection.
Breastfeeding isn’t always easy and usually requires a lot of support, your effort matters.
No matter how you’re feeding your baby, I see your strength.

I’ve read this book so many times. It seems like I’ve picked it up every year since I started as a doula 6 years ago.

This book is full of solutions for the care that’s received in hospitals during childbirth.

It’s a real look at evidence based care for birth and we can take control of our own birth stories.

It’s also available in audio book. If you are expecting I highly recommend reading or listening to it.

You CAN go home!!

You labor at home so long you surely think when you get to the hospital you have reached active labor….only to find out you are only 2-3 cm dilated. This is still early labor.

📣 GO HOME!!!

If you stay, you will be pressured to progress by the means of augmentation. They will start talking about starting Pitocin or artificially breaking your water.

👏🏼 This is an elective induction!

With augmentation you are forcing labor to progress quicker than it was intended to, which can have poor outcomes.

Just because you’ve gone to the hospital doesn’t mean you can’t go back home where you feel safe and comfortable and can continue to labor until things get more intense.

Learn more about the risks of elective inductions in my Lamaze class.

Next class is June 21st (online)
