Why am I obsessed with talking about your metabolism?

Yes, your metabolism plays a role in your weight and body composition which can impact how you feel.

More than that, your metbaolic health can be a major predictor of your future health as you get older.

If you have poor metabolic health, it can set you up for chronic disease later in life like diabetes, heart disease, and dementia.

With just 88% of the US adult population considered metabolically "healthy", that is why we have so much chronic disease in our health care system.

Check in with your metabolic health. If you don't know these biomarkers I challenge you to get them done. Know where you're at and where you need to start making some improvements!

Your metabolic health impacts your hormones, weight, energy, cravings, disease risk and even more.

Take control of what you can with your health and your metabolism is a great place to start to get the most bang for your buck!

Spent some much needed R&R this weekend being celebrated as I lentered a new decade 💫

Some key takeaways:
- Time truly does fly. So spend as much time as you can with who you want, doing what you want. And sometimes that’s having some wine with some of your favorite people and being in the moment for me. Other times that’s a complete self care day prepping my food for the week and sitting in the sauna alone. 🪷

- Health really is wealth. If you’re not healthy enough to enjoy these big moments…if you’re in pain or worrying about how your stomach might react, or how you look then what’s the point of the big moment? Take care of yourself so you can be present when it matters. ✨

-Goals for this new decade: build more muscle and/or don’t lose any muscle as this third decade comes which will be even harder. Stretching and sleep have already become noticeably more important these last few years and will only get more important as I want to thrive in my 30s. 💪🏻

Anti-inflammatory meal in under 12 minutes!

Real talk I did not feel like making the salmon that I had thawed out 2 nights in a row so I made this tik tok in order to convince myself to make something tasty and not order food 😅

Homemade dressing is the way to go. No inflammatory oils, no additives/gums. Just a few ingredients. And now I have leftover for a marinade or salad dressing this week!

Inflammation is something we hear thrown around a lot... but is it all bad?

Acute inflammation is actually a good thing! It's your body's response to invaders or tissue damage. Like when you get sick or injured, your immune system sends fighter cells to repair itself. Think of this like a quick fire that burns and gets put out quickly.

Chronic inflammation is a low level inflammation that persists over years. Your body is often responding to perceived invaders, environmental toxins, or producing and inflammatory response from your lifestyle. Think of this like a slow burning fire that never gets extinguished.

Chronic inflammation is the basis to many of the most common chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, dementia, etc.

Lots of things in our environment can contribute to chronic inflammation like your diet, sleep habits, stress, environmental pollutants and exercise.

But the good thing is, these are all things we can control to prevent chronic disease later in life!

Health and disease are on a spectrum 〰️

They don’t just happen.

You don’t just wake up one day and have diabetes. Just like you don’t just wake up one day and all your health problems are gone.

Your daily lifestyle habits are either pushing you towards one way or the other. Sometimes we have to stop and check in with where we are on that spectrum whether that’s getting lab work done or just checking in with how we are actually feeling on a day to day basis. Check in with your health and see where YOU are!
