Spring is a time of growth, progress, and forward movement, just like recovery after a stroke, injury, or neurological diagnosis. Getting your body moving safely is an important part of regaining independence.

After inpatient rehabilitation at Reunion, patients can continue progress through activities like:
-Gentle stretching or yoga
-Light strength and balance exercises
-Walking outdoors or on a treadmill
-Adaptive sports or recreational therapy

Every step, every movement, builds confidence and supports ongoing recovery.

This season could be the start of meaningful progress.

Not every patient is ready for inpatient rehabilitation. At Reunion, we carefully evaluate each patient to ensure they can participate safely and benefit from therapy. Our criteria focus on medical stability, rehab potential, therapy participation, and support for discharge. This helps patients achieve meaningful outcomes and transition safely home.

Traumatic brain injury recovery involves more than just therapy sessions, it requires precise coordination across every discipline involved in care.

At Reunion, TBI care begins with a collaborative, round-table approach. Our physicians, therapists, nurses, and case managers come together to review each patient’s condition and develop an individualized plan of care. Goals are set as a team, progress is discussed together, and adjustments are made in real time to support each patient’s evolving needs.

-Physical therapy focuses on mobility and balance.
-Occupational therapy supports daily function and independence.
-Speech therapy addresses cognitive and communication challenges.
-Nursing and case management reinforce progress and coordinate safe transitions home.

When care is coordinated and communication is consistent, patients receive structured, individualized support throughout their recovery journey.

Because recovery moves forward when the entire team moves together. Learn more: https://reunionrehabhospital.com/professionals/

At Reunion, we understand that the transition from acute care to home often begins with inpatient rehabilitation. Our hospitals serve as a critical bridge, helping patients move safely from the acute setting to the next phase of recovery.

Our interdisciplinary teams work closely with referring physicians, hospitals, and care partners to provide intensive rehabilitation, medical oversight, and patient education in a structured inpatient environment. This approach helps patients regain strength and independence, improve functional outcomes, reduce the risk of readmission, and prepare for a safe, successful discharge home.

By serving as the link between acute care and discharge, Reunion provides coordinated transitions that improve outcomes, reduce readmissions, and support long-term recovery.

During Heart Month ❤️, we recognized an incredible member of our Reunion Arlington team whose story is truly inspiring.

One of our Case Managers and Social Workers is not only passionate about helping patients and families navigate the recovery process, she is also a heart survivor. Born with three congenital heart defects, she has undergone four open-heart surgeries throughout her life.

Her journey has shaped the way she supports patients every day, reminding them to trust the process of recovery and find the positive even on the most difficult days.

Her story is a powerful reminder of resilience, gratitude, and the strength of the human heart.

At 60 years old, Travis was an active electrician and devoted father when a CVA changed everything. He arrived at Reunion Arlington requiring total assistance, with significant weakness and difficulty communicating.

Through daily occupational, physical, and speech therapy, he progressed from a Hoyer lift to standing, walking with a walker, feeding himself, dressing with minimal assistance, and communicating effectively.

His journey is a powerful reminder of what determination and comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation can achieve.

March is National Nutrition Month, and at Reunion, we recognize that healing begins from within.

For patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, or other complex neurological conditions, proper nutrition plays a critical role in the rehabilitation process. The right balance of protein supports muscle rebuilding. Hydration supports cognitive clarity and endurance during therapy. Balanced meals help maintain energy levels needed for daily rehabilitation sessions.

Recovery is not just about therapy hours. It is about giving the body and brain the fuel they need to repair, rebuild, and regain strength. Our interdisciplinary team works together to ensure each patient’s nutritional needs align with their individualized care plan, supporting safer progress and stronger outcomes.
