"While licensed ma*****na dispensaries in the state had to source all products from within state lines, restrict entry to those 21 and older, and comply with regulations established through the Division of Cannabis Control, intoxicating h**p products were widely available in gas stations and convenience stores, often without age restrictions or safety testing."

While most intoxicating h**p products will soon be banned, the new legislation specifically allows THC beverages to remain on shelves until December 31, 2026.

Executive Director David Bowling praised Ohio for becoming one of the earliest states to close the window on intoxicating h**p, adding that the ban shows a “clear commitment to public safety and a responsible marketplace.”
