Today I am 5 years clean and sober. I never thought I’d make it this far. All those memories of crying on the floor hoping for my life to end because I was so sick and tired. I was an 🪡 her0in, cr4ck, and benz0 addict for years. Rehab, jail, and institutions were a constant for me and truly I couldn’t stand the sight of myself in the mirror.

My rock bottom was the death of someone who I thought I would spend my life with, then going to jail a few months later. When I got pregnant with my daughter I was just a few months sober and never made it much farther than that.

She saved my life and made me realize my life was worth saving. I went to therapy, meetings, walked away from an abusive relationship, got off medicated assisted treatment, and got my s**t together.

Today I am proud of the woman I’ve become. I’m nowhere near perfect but I’m f*cking sober. And I’m trying.

Grateful for the people who I surround myself with; my friends, my community, my family, my daughter, and most of all myself.

I’ll never forget where I came from. Proud of me today. We do recover ❤️

"I’m Daniel, and I’m an alcoholic. It still feels unreal to say I’ve been sober for three years – there was a time I didn’t think I could ever quit, or even needed to. But it was the best choice I’ve ever made. Now I’m finishing my degree, I’m surrounded by amazing people, I’m healthier than ever, and I actually feel happy every single day.

I’m sharing this because I know so many people are going through the same struggle. If my story can help even one person feel less alone or inspire them to make a change, that means the world to me. Alcoholism almost ruined my life, but now every day I stay sober feels like a miracle. I’m so incredibly grateful. ❤️"
