The Supportive Atmosphere for the Caregivers and Relatives of the Emotionally Disabled and Disturbed, also known as SACREDD, is a non-profit organization in support of the total welfare of the low income families of those with mental illness. Due to lack of knowledge, opportunity and finances, families are ill-equipped to deal with the demands of caring for loved ones struggling with the ups and d
owns of mental illness, oftentimes falling victim to inconsistencies with in their own well-being. Areas of wellness to be addressed:
Physical aspect- resources and classes addressing dietary needs and nutrition, weight loss and fitness goals and classes, group support for addiction and substance abuse issues. Emotional aspect- writing, art, meditation therapeutic workshops, peer support groups, parenting classes, marital counseling
Occupational aspect- resource center with computer access for job readiness and employment opportunities. Spiritual aspect- promotes acknowledgement of a Higher Power through counseling and bible studies, prayer and meditation (mindfulness). Social aspect- assembling of people of similar situation, in order to communicate, share, support and work through obstacles together. Environmental aspect- classes for budgeting and conservation and mental health first aid (MHFA/YMHFA).
