We are pleased to announce that Dr. James Wellbaum has joined the Personal MD family. He is a board-certified family physician who has been providing primary care to the patients of central Ohio for over a decade. He and Dr. Brad were partners previously at OhioHealth in Pickerington.
Dr. Wellbaum completed his undergraduate degree at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. During that time, he was trained as a wilderness first responder and served as medical personnel on several adventures including a wilderness survival trip.
Dr. Wellbaum graduated from Ross University Medical School. He has had the opportunity to work and train in healthcare systems located in Dominica West Indies; New York City; Miami, Florida; and Saginaw, Michigan. After medical school, Dr. Wellbaum returned to central Ohio where he completed residency, training at Grant Medical Center. He was elected to the position of Chief Resident and received the 2016 Resident Teacher Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.
Following residency, Dr. Wellbaum moved to Pickerington, Ohio where he still resides with his significant other and two young children. He enjoys spending time with his children, DIY projects, woodworking, outdoor recreation, traveling and attending music festivals.
Dr. Wellbaum aspires to be a true Renaissance man. Prior to his career in medicine, he has held multiple jobs including package handler for FedEx, tree service removal, farmhand, landscaper, security and barback, sushi roller in a Japanese restaurant, youth athletic coach and residential handyman. These collective experiences obtained have provided him with a unique perspective and the ability to treat patients from a variety of backgrounds.
