EARTH DAY 🌎

Celebrate Mother Nature today and everyday while working on speech and language.

•Nature Walk - take a walk in nature and play i-spy to work on descriptive language or try to collect one nature item in every color of the rainbow 🌈

•Plant a Tree - sequence the steps to planting the tree or use proper grammar to retell the event 🌳

•Pick up Trash - (this is something I do every time I’m on a walk or at the beach) Collect litter and throw it away or recycle it. Practice one speech sound/word/exercise for every piece you collect ♻️

•Make arts and crafts out of trash - use the trash you collected to make a cool project. Use your imagination and create a story to go with it! 🗑

Happy Easter! 🐰

Today while you Celebrate, remember to target your kiddos speech and language by:

•Egg Hunt- this is an amazing opportunity to talk about adjectives. Colors, shapes, sizes, patterns, etc. Have your child search for a specific egg (e.g. “Find the big blue egg.”) or sort the eggs they’ve already collected.

•Baby Animals and word associations - talk about Rabbits & Bunnies or Chickens & Chicks. You can also talk about word associations with these animals (e.g “Which one doesn’t belong bunny, fire truck, carrot and why?)

•Plastic Eggs - use the plastic eggs that open to follow directions, answer questions and practice prepositions. (e.g. “What’s Inside the egg?” “Open the pink egg.”)

• Easter Candy- save that candy and use it as motivation for articulation or oral- motor drill and practice.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️

Celebrating St. Patrick’s day is a fun and easy way to practice your child’s speech and language skills. Here are some of our favorite activities:

•Make a leprechaun trap- so many language opportunities with this activity: following directions to build the trap, imagination and story telling (what will you do if you catch the leprechaun?), answering “wh” questions (Where should we put the trap? Who will we catch? What will the leprechaun do? How will he feel? Etc). Remember to use your “best speech sounds” when talking about/answering these prompts! 🇮🇪

•Rainbow arts/craft- talk about adjectives (colors & shapes), categories/descriptive language (name as many red items as you can, etc).🌈

•Pot of Gold- narratives: What would you do if you found a pot of gold? Why do you think the leprechaun has a pot of gold? How could you get to the end of the rainbow for the pot of gold?
Or earn a gold coin for every correct production of articulation sounds or oral-motor exercise completed! 🥇

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! 🎉

Reading is a great way to enhance your child’s language skills and to focus on their articulation. 📖

Celebrate Dr.Seuss’ birthday by reading one of his many amazing books together.📚
•Dr. Seuss books are awesome not only because they have great illustrations, but, there are a variety of different reading levels. From Hop on Pop to The Lorax, there’s a Dr. Seuss book for your child to read!

Welcome 2021 🤩

Wishing you all health and happiness in the new year! 🤍

Our favorite NYE celebration with little ones is “Noon-Year’s”! 🎉Complete with countdown, cheering, hugs & kisses, and confetti.🥳

Try celebrating at noon this year with your littles to share the fun and excitement of ringing in the new year, but, keeping them on their schedule! 🕛

We also love reflecting on the year past by talking about our favorite memories/ achievements and planning for the year ahead by setting goals. It’s never to early (young) to set goals and cheer past accomplishments! 👏🏽

PRAGMATIC LANGUAGE 👯‍♀️

The third in our breakdown of language (expressive, receptive, pragmatic).

Pragmatic language is the ability to interpret and utilize "social language" skills in daily interactions (e.g., making eye contact, taking turns, asking questions, understanding and controlling facial expressions, etc.).

🎅🏼
It’s almost Christmas! Here are some fun ways to practice speech and language skills while getting into the holiday spirit. 🌟

•Bake/decorate cookies - work on following directions and sequencing steps to bake the cookies following a recipe. 🍪

•Sing Carols - read through the lyrics of your favorite Holiday songs to find words with your target sound(s) and practice those words/sentences. 🎼

•Holiday Lights - walk or drive around your neighborhood to see the lights and decorations. Use descriptive language to talk about the lights: colors, shapes, sizes, etc. 🔺🟢🔹

•Letters to Santa - write (or for younger children draw) a letter to Santa. Practice writing (or saying) complete and grammatically correct sentences using your best pronouns, auxiliary verbs, word order, etc. 📝

(don’t forget to leave out milk and cookies 🥛🍪)
