Chain pharmacies optimize for scale. Independent pharmacies optimize for care.
That difference affects everything from purchasing decisions to staffing models and more. MFP helps independent owners navigate those complexities with clarity and real-world insight.
February is Heart Health Month — but for independent pharmacies, this work happens every day. From quiet blood pressure checks to helpful conversations at the prescription counter, pharmacists are often the first ones to help, and the ones patients trust the most.
At MFP, we protect and strengthen that tradition by equipping our members with the tools, insight, and advocacy needed to deliver meaningful care while remaining independent and strong.
This month, we celebrate the pharmacies that make care personal, local and lasting. You’re the heartbeat of your communities, and we’re proud to stand with you and advocate for you

Maximum Fair Price changes for select Medicare drugs are set to start January 2026.
While the impact will vary by pharmacy, these changes represent a meaningful shift in the reimbursement landscape. It’s important for independent pharmacy owners to stay informed and understand how evolving policies may affect their operations and financials over time.
Montana Family Pharmacies helps members stay aware of industry changes, assess potential considerations, and navigate what these developments may mean for their pharmacy.
Q1 is a critical time for independent pharmacies – especially as new policies and reimbursement changes take effect.
Montana Family Pharmacies helps members navigate these shifts with clear, data-driven insights, transparent price comparisons, and compliance and regulatory tools designed to support stronger decision-making throughout the year.
With MFP, there is no guesswork. Just clear information and support you can rely on.
In just 3 months, independent pharmacy leaders from across the country will gather in Colorado Springs for the 2026 MFP Member Meeting.
This isn’t just a conference. It’s where real challenges are discussed, strategies are shared, and member insights shape advocacy efforts and future initiatives that support independent pharmacy.
We listen to our members and turn those conversations into action.
The start of a new year is a critical moment for independent pharmacy owners. It’s when financial performance is reviewed, contracts are evaluated, and decisions are made that shape the year ahead. For many owners, that process happens while still managing day-to-day operations behind the counter.
Montana Family Pharmacies helps bring clarity to that complexity – offering guidance, resources, and support to navigate contracts and costs with confidence. MFP helps make the business side clearer and more manageable, so you can focus on your patients.

At Montana Family Pharmacies, we believe that pharmacies deserve more than recognition. You deserve effective support, a strong voice, and a partner who understands the realities of independent pharmacy.
Today, we celebrate you. And every day, we work to protect the future you’re building.

Independent pharmacy owners carry more than their fair share.
Between compliance, documentation, coordination, contracts, and operational decisions, the workload behind the counter is heavier than most people realize.

We provide structure, guidance, and support that help independent pharmacies stay focused on patients, without navigating everything alone. From behind-the-scenes complexities to long-term strategies, we’re here to help you operate smarter and stronger.

We understand how overwhelming and time-consuming it can be to get and correctly use your medicines – they just add one more thing to your never-ending list.
Our member stores have been helping our fellow Montana friends and families for decades, offering competitive prices and quick, caring service.
We take the time to teach you how to use your prescriptions so you get healthy quickly – and don't spend any more time at the doctor or pharmacy than necessary.
Not to mention, we compete with big box store prices – oftentimes beating them – and we're typically much quicker to get your prescriptions ready too.
Ask your doctor or nurse to send your new prescriptions to your local MFP Member pharmacy and contact your local Member pharmacy to transfer your existing prescriptions to them. Find your local Member pharmacy on our website at www.montanafamilypharmacies.com.
