Preserving families by empowering young women toward healthy relationships through education, leader

At The Table Communication is an organization whose mission is to support the preservation of families through education, leadership development and personal development. Our goal is to bring families back to the table, engaging in face-to-face interactions in an effort to tighten what seems to be an unraveling cord that once knitted us as American families. Our specific target is youth and young adults ages 14-25 years of age. We do this by teaching relationship education classes, workshops and training for youth and young adults that build life skills. We’ll serve to bridge the gap between families and young people teaching concepts that facilitate healthy relationships between parent/child, dating couples and spouses, employers/employees, etc. We endeavor to give young people life tools that are effective in giving them an advantage against poverty, unwanted teen pregnancy and abortion while simultaneously reducing dating and domestic violence.

Disrespect in relationships can manifest in various ways. It includes talking down to someone, name-calling, ignoring boundaries, lying, sneaking, and hiding. Deception, even if not a full lie, is also a form of disrespect. It shows a lack of respect for your partner's needs and feelings. Have you experienced this?

When trust is broken, rebuilding it isn't instant. An apology is a start, but expecting immediate forgiveness is unrealistic. Healing varies; some forgive faster, while others need more time to regain trust. Consistency is key.

You're eager for the date because you anticipate the juicy conversation. You've got your list of curiosities ready to fire off to them. You want to ask this, that, and the 3rd question. You're ready, ready!

But... you find yourself pulling and even dragging information from them. So now what??? DON'T DO IT!! NO COMPROMISE!!
Try again. And again. But DO NOT compromise.

Consider the following:

What you ask - information you seek
When you ask - stage of date or relationship
How you ask - tone of the question
Why you ask - significance of question
Who you ask - ALWAYS consider audience
Where you ask - environment/situation effects conversation/interaction. They say, "This is not the time nor the place for this!"

Inside our hearts, we know our deepest desires. Many times, the crafting of them begins in our childhood. They may come from our families, tv shows our movies, a couple or family that we admire at church, and especially from school. Once we have an awareness of differences in our lives from our friends, the desires take shape.
