Chels Teaches Yoga

Chels Teaches Yoga Chelsea is a yoga teacher and founder of The Yoga Magick Studio. Promoting practice over performance.

Chelsea is a yoga teacher who promotes practice over performance. Her goal is to create a yoga community, both online and in-person, that feels both inclusive and accessible. She is the founder of The Yoga Magick Studio, an online yoga community where you can come and practice exactly as you are....with support celebration, rather than punishment and judgement. Coming from a background of working

in unwelcoming and corporate studios, she now desires to find those people who have been afraid to try yoga, or been turned away by performance based, diet-culture influenced, weight loss oriented, appropriated yoga studios and teachers. She considers herself a yoga witch, and believes the principles of magick, are the same as the principles of yoga- engaging consciousness in any practice can help you to be who you want to be and accomplish whatever you wish to accomplish. Over all, both yoga and magick are not about changing who you are, but revealing the truth that is inside. When it comes to yoga she considers herself perpetually a student who is always ready to learn more about this practice and how it can help her and her students.

ROOT | foundation | stability

Physically, how does it feel to be grounded in the reality of your body? How often do you take on the task of building a better relationship with your body? What if you learned to actually listen to your body instead of placing expectations on how it looks or feels?

In order to feel grounded and build a solid foundation in life, we first have to start with our body. Not because your body needs to look or perform a specific way in order to be worthy, but because without a connection to our body we have no basis from which to live.

Our bodies are our vehicles through this life and they ground us in reality as well as allow us to take action towards the ideas and goals we have in our mind.

That’s what we will be tackling in my 6:30am class tomorrow . Come rise and shine and start building your strong foundation with me! See you there ♥️

Ok Instagram…I’m gonna just slowly tip toe back in here.

I took a break for social media-ing for my business because it was feeling inauthentic and I was stressing more over my posts than I was doing my actual job.

However, I have had a good couple of months away and have found I really do love what I do. And I want to do it as much as I can. So I’m going to test the waters!

So let me reintroduce myself.

I’m Chelsea. I’m a yoga teacher in Tucson, AZ. I believe everyone can and should do yoga. I do not believe yoga is a workout though I do believe it’s ok if it occasionally works you physically.

I try to meet every student where they are and I want everyone to feel welcome in my class, no matter where they are in their practice.

I teach using the elements and the chakras a lot and I think it is an amazing way to start to understand yoga beyond the physical.

I lead group retreats and create events and rituals to help cultivate community and a deeper relationship with your practice.

I teach yoga in a few places but I also have a YouTube channel and teach private clients as well.

I’m a Sagittarius and I get very passionate about the things I believe as well as maybe being a bit outspoken about things I don’t like about the yoga industry.

Most importantly, my goal and my purpose as a teacher is to open up your mind and body to the possibility of accepting who you are and knowing that you are enough.

Don’t talk to me about calorie burn 🤬

I hope to see you in my classes, events, or online spaces soon in the future. Th ask for welcoming me and my teaching back into this crazy digital space!

After much thought and honestly very little consideration…I’m making the decision.

Business social media and really most social media is going dark indefinitely.

Social media has gone from something that felt like a great way to connect and share my passion for yoga and spreading the message of yoga. It has for months, if not years, felt more and more inauthentic and forced , as a business and as a content creator. As a consumer, it’s so much negativity OR a berage of someone else’s sales pitches. And yet I spend hours of my week scrolling through nonsense that at best makes me feel nothing, at the worst…makes me feel inadequate.

I recently found out I have anxiety disorder and depression. And while that makes a lot of sense for some of the things I’ve been experiencing, it’s also really obvious to me that social media is not helping. So that’s it.

If you have yoga inquiries and you have my number, feel free to text me at an appropriate time of day or my business email will remain active:

Please understand that I am trying to remind myself that work is not my life, and I will respond to emails or texts about yoga as soon as I can.

Hope to see you in class soon!

This week in my classes, we are working with the Heart Chakra, or Anahata.

In response to hurt, trauma, or fear, it’s instinct to close off our hearts…to round our spines and to shut others out. This week in my classes we are aiming to unstick some of what is stuck, but opening our heart both physically and energetically.

This type of work requires courage and vulnerability. Every time you step on your mat, approach your practice with openness but more importantly compassion and forgiveness. Many of us build up layers and layers of walls over our heart through the years, so breaking them down requires time and patience.

TUCSON!

I’m here to tell you that you should start booking private yoga sessions with me!

I know there are plenty of reasons you have to say “no” or “not right now” or “maybe in the future.”

I know all of those reasons because I’ve used all of those reasons for not doing something that I wanted/needed/ dreamed of.

You might be a great candidate for private yoga if:

1. You’re a total beginner and feel intimidated by the idea of going to a studio where you aren’t totally sure what you’re doing

2. You have an injury now or in the past that you aren’t sure how to work with in your yoga practice

3. You have been practicing awhile and are feeling stagnant but are unsure of how to grow your practice

4. You can’t find a public class that fits into your busy schedule

It could be one of these reasons or something else, but private yoga is an amazing investment you can make in yourself. I know it can be a pricier option compared to studio classes sometimes, but the attention you get, along with the opportunity to learn and grow is so much bigger when you work in a one-on-one situation.

I not only can, but I would be THRILLED to begin a genuine yoga relationship with students who fall under these categories. I want people to feel successful and like they are getting somewhere in their practice. So if that’s something you want to explore and discover, consider booking a consultation call me with now in Tucson.

I really hope to work with you soon and help you to feel safe, comfortable, and adventurous about your yoga practice and your life.

Starting to feel real! We only have a little over two weeks left in Ohio and it’s really dawning on us how much we will miss our families and the friends we’ve made in this short time here. But we are also so excited for the opportunities we have ahead both in our lives and in our careers.

I know for me it will be hard to say goodbye to the amazing people at who have not only given me my favorite work experience I have ever had, but also allowed me to teach yoga in the beautiful greenhouse here. I am so honored to have been a part of this team and to have been able to teach in such a beautiful space.

BUT onward to new challenges and experiences. On the bright side, I still have a couple yoga classes here at Delhi…so get em in while you can!

Practice with me today in the greenhouse 5pm
And Sunday 10am!

The class is $10 and honestly, it’s just the best place ever to do yoga. Hope to see you there!

Have you ever seen the Cary Grant/ Katherine Hepburn classic Holiday (1938)?

Grant plays a young Johnny Case, a man in love, ready to take the leap into marriage with a charming, and well-to-do heiress. Unbeknownst to her, he wishes to work and make just enough money to where he can go out and see the world and discover what it is he cares about. Upon discovering his plan, his wife-to-be has no interest in this “holiday” from life, he finds himself relaying this dream to her much more free-spirited sister (Hepburn), to whom he exclaims:

“I want to save part of my life for myself. There's a catch to it, though. It's gotta be part of the young part. You know, retire young, work old, come back and work when I know what I'm working for. Does that make any sense?”

Ohio has been what we needed in so many ways. Getting to spend time with our family, and slowing down after the rat race of trying to compete and be successful at our jobs in Chicago…was crucial. But it is not where we stay.

Both Ben and I have dreams, experiences, and adventures we still yearn for. And while it does hurt to once again say goodbye to our families, it also brings major excitement for what is to come.

I love Cary Grant and I love the movie Holiday, though I would object to his dream being referred to as a “holiday,” as if it is merely a break from what life truly is. Instead, we want life to constantly be a holiday- with new explorations around every corner.

In February, we say goodbye for now to Ohio, and hello once more to TUCSON, AZ.

The future is bright, sunny, and yes…very very hot ❤️🌵🕸️🏜️🧘🏻‍♀️🌴😄
