Did you sleep well?

I hope you had a good rest and have kicked off this day with energy and joy!

Are you taking the time to look around you and actually SEE the beauty that surrounds you?

What do you see right now?

Perhaps you have a pile of laundry waiting to be washed. It's a blessing. You have clothes to wear and, in this modern age, we don't have to beat our clothes on a rock to get them clean.

Maybe it's a sink full of dirty dishes. I'll bet the food they contained was delicious and gave your body the nutrients to grow, and live, and be healthy.

Perhaps you have a house full of toys that have been scattered everywhere. Does it look like a Toys R Us exploded in there? Do you hear the laughter of your beautiful children as they were playing. Concentrate on the laughter, not the arguments and whining.

I could go on but this is my pep talk for you not a reminder of tasks at hand. In this time of self-love, try to look at the beauty of the mess; the enjoyment that made the untidiness of your home is well worth it. When you come to that realization, it will help with the thoughts of defeat or boredom that overcome us with mundane house keeping. And another thought...

If it isn't finished today, it's not the end of the world.

Take the opportunity to enjoy your children...they are only young once and when they're gone, you will long for just a few minutes with them again.

Today on our self-care journey, let's think about every happy moment that occurred as the dishes were used, the clothes were worn, and the toys were scattered. (i.e. did they enjoy the lasagna you made? How did those mud stains get into the knees of those pants? Was it because of a slide to home plate? And, how many giggles did you hear when the toys were being "loved" every where?)

Take a deep breath, you're supposed to be doing that anyway, and refresh your thinking to positives, not negatives.

Carve out at least half an hour for "Me time". What will you do to refresh?

Remember, you are not in this alone. That is a fact.

You are wonderful!
You are beautiful!
You are loved!!

Good morning!

How is your relaxing going? Have you been able to accomplish it at all?

This will take practice, and determination. We all need to take time for ourselves and in order to do that, we need to focus on the end game. Health.

One of the best ways to start a relaxation "session" if you will, is to sit comfortably and think about your blessings. Even in this world of unease, we all have blessings.

What are you thankful for?

When you begin to follow that list, you will feel your concerns, doubts, angst, and, perhaps, depression, begin to melt away. By putting the negative away and leaning toward the positive, you will find that peace for which you are looking.

Faith can also be a spring board. Feeling the presence of God in these situations is life changing. Have you ever wished you could be enfolded in loving, non-judgmental, arms and feel the warmth and peace you need radiating from them? You can with Jesus.

He knows all about us and He wants us to achieve His peace. Perfect peace.

When you are relaxing/resting today, the next goal is to breathe. Breathe deeply and slowly, allowing oxygen to pe*****te your lungs and revitalize you.

Re-oxygenating your body is just as important as hydrating!

Breathe deep, hydrate, and rest.

You're on your way to new rejuvenation!

Good morning!

Have you missed eden?

It has been a long while since I've been able to bring you ideas for a healthier you. During that time I have experienced some vital insights in to caring for self without becoming self-ish. I hope to share with you some ways you can help "you" become more relaxed, youthful, and healthy.

In our busy lives we tend to think of others first and put ourselves on the back shelf. In theory, that seems like a good idea, but in reality we tend to work ourselves to the bone without any refreshment only to become ill, and not be able to care for the things we think are important.

If you have ever flown on an airplane, you will hear the flight attendant give a dissertation about safety. In that instruction we are told that if the oxygen mask drops, we should put it on ourselves FIRST. The reason for this is so that we can be safe while caring for others if needs must.

It is the same way with life. If we don't have our oxygen masks on, we will eventually become lifeless and unable to be of assistance.
You may find that maudlin, but is it so true. You will suffocate without self-care.

Think about your life and what you are doing besides caring for YOU. Children? Work? Caring for an elderly parent? Meeting the demands of a busy home? Taxi driver? Child psychologist?
And when you finally fall into bed, does your brain kick into over drive to plan everything for the next day, week, month?

When you live like this, your adrenal glands take a beating. You are constantly in "fight or flight" mode. Let's stop the madness and work on "woosaw", calmness, peace, tranquility...if for only a few minutes a day to begin.

Today, think about a quite place in your home where you can escape. It may be your bedroom, a place with a comfy chair in your yard, your car, or even your bathroom. A place where you will not be bothered for at least 15 minutes. In that time, close your eyes and relax every muscle in your body. Breathe deeply and calmly. Listen to your heart relaxing and your mind winding down. You will feel the calm wash over you like a warm ocean wave. Try not to think of home, work, kids, spouses or what you are having for dinner. Give this time to refreshment.

When you have accomplished that, try to incorporate it into your schedule every day. Perhaps you can find a little more time on the weekends to treat yourself to a self care routine.

Remember, when YOU are refreshed, you can serve others better because you are calmer, stronger, and more in tune with life.

Try it. What have you got to lose?

Good afternoon!!

Did you miss me yet?
Let me tell you, but I'm sure you know...life comes at you fast! I have been extremely busy with all things eden as well as chasing three-year-olds everyday. I have had so many experiences, both up and down, and I believe, in time, I will share some of them with you.

In the meantime, have you remembered to hydrate?
Are you choosing colorful foods?
Have you been resting when needed, and sleeping well at night?

I think it is vitally important to "self-care". If we don't take care of ourselves, who will take care of the business in which we are in charge?

I am hopeful that in the next few weeks, and perhaps months, we can work on self-care a little more and will find a happy alternative to tiredness and decline.

So, for now, can you concentrate on just 15-30 minutes a day to rest? What ever is pending will be there when you get back. Prop you feet up, have a nice beverage next to you , and relax with a good book. It will do you a world of good.

:)

Happy New Year!!
I'll bet you thought I had dropped off the face of the earth because you haven't heard from me in a long time! Well, I'm here to tell you that I am alive and kicking and have learned and experienced a great deal in the past few months and I am anxious to pass it on to you.

We have just left the realm of holiday eating, celebrating, drinking and parties too numerous to count. Our bodies are probably screaming "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"! We have consumed pounds of sugar, and tons of carbs, that were delicious but now we have to pay the cost of that indulgence and purge ourselves of the toxins.

Some of the ways you can help with this cleansing is by drinking steam distilled water, half your body weight in ounces, every day. This will flush the body with good clean water, literally washing the system much like spring rains in the gutters.

Secondarily, eliminating the sugar. We may have leftover Christmas cookies and treats laying around the house but that doesn't mean we have to eat them. We've had enough! Throw them out! If you can't bring yourself to do that, put them in a plastic bag in the freezer. Out of sight, out of mind.

Third, we need to concentrate on good food. Leafy greens, fresh produce, and very little to no dairy. If you are a meat eater, lean meats such as chicken and turkey are best along with fresh fish American harvested. Watch those labels!

Lastly, for this installment, get some rest. Take the time to put everything aside and relax for a bit. An hour is optimal but if you can't do that right away, even ten minutes can help. We are not machines that can go, go, go! Take a break! Your body will thank you!

I hope this post finds you well and gives you some idea on how to usher in a healthy new year! Take care of YOU and this will be your best year yet!!

I am looking forward to bringing you more ideas on living your best life in the coming months. You are important. There is no one like you on the planet! Let's get you healthy so you can be a blessing for many years to come!

And it feels good!
