“Shine On” ☀️💥🩷 🌟We can shine—even in the dark—we just have to find our way.

The day I started to paint these wasn’t a great day. Some may call it hypocritical to paint something so bright on a day that felt so dark, but what’s hypocritical about an activity that led me up, out of the heaviness, and reminded me I could “shine on?”

I created this piece—and her big & little sisters (swipe right)—for the ultimate, giant “Shine On” canvas that will help bring all of the colors of my studio together. The trio will be available at my Etsy shop by the end of the weekend, or simply send me a DM if interested! I pray they remind onlookers to find their way to shine, amidst and despite whatever the day throws their way

Did you know that sorting activities serve as an excellent way to help children regulate their emotions and organize their thoughts? As a cognitively organizing activity, sorting can promote calmness and focus.

The key to success lies in the environment. Create a peaceful setting by guiding your child to a quiet and uncluttered space, playing soothing music, and providing items that require sorting.

Is your child feeling overwhelmed after a busy day at school, or becoming overstimulated during the weekends when there’s less structure? Now’s the perfect time to start preparing a list of items they can sort to promote calmness and self-regulation.

Wondering if occupational therapy is right for your kid? Here’s how I can help:

1. Trouble following directions – Whether it’s due to processing, self-regulation, or organizing a motor-response, we’ll work together to find a solution.

2. Struggles with movement – If they’re fidgety, slow, clumsy, or unaware of their body in space, we’ll figure out the cues they need to navigate their environment better.

3. Sloppy handwriting – Handwriting involves multiple skills. I address impeding factors like visual perception, fine motor, coordination, hand strength, and attention-to-task.

4. Difficulty with routines – If they’re struggling to finish daily tasks, we can break things down with visual aids, timers, and rewards.

5. Emotional challenges – I’ll help them identify, understand, and express their emotions in order for them to then manage them better.
