We're kicking off a new program in August!
'Hope Inside' is a program for men and women who are incarcerated at the new Franklin County jail (New Jack). Participants can join our recovery meeting and find a bridge back into the community when they are released.

In our community - Life will take on new meaning. To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends - this is an experience you must not miss. Frequent contact with newcomers and with each other is the bright spot of our lives.

My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character which stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Grant me strength, as I go out from here, to do your bidding. Amen

Hope Gathering did not disappoint. Amber brought her powerful story of hope, we celebrated nearly 60 individual milestones of sobriety, heard raw honesty and saw many newcomers. What a gift. Thanks for keeping me sober!

There is a solution. Almost none of us liked the self-searching, the leveling of our pride, the confession of shortcomings which the process requires for its successful consummation. But we saw that it really worked in others, and we had come to believe in the hopelessness and futility of life as we had been living it. When, therefore, we were approached by those in whom the problem had been solved, there was nothing left for us but to pick up the simple kit of spiritual tools laid at our feet.

If you are as seriously 'an addict' as we were, we believe there is no middle-of-the-road solution. We were in a position where life was becoming impossible, and if we had passed into the region from which there is no return through human aid, we had but two alternatives: One was to go on to the bitter end, blotting out the consciousness of our intolerable situation as best we could; and the other, to accept spiritual help.

Tonight Amber Sue Hoge is sharing her story of hope and you wont want to miss it!

The great fact is just this, and nothing less: That we have had deep and effective spiritual experiences which have revolutionized our whole attitude toward life, toward our fellows and toward God's universe. The central fact of our lives today is the absolute certainty that our Creator has entered into our hearts and lives in a way which is indeed miraculous. He has commenced to accomplish those things for us which we could never do by ourselves. (AA p.25)

Hope Gathering was hoppin' last night!
Practical experience shows that nothing will so much insure immunity from addiction as intensive work with other addicts. It works when other activities fail.

Life will take on new meaning. It's July at The Hope Gathering so that means we're talking about Step 7. The Seventh Step is where we make the change in our attitude which permits us, with humility as our guide, to move our from ourselves towards others and towards God. During this process of learning more about humility, the most profound result of all was the change in our attitude toward God. We began to get over the idea that the Higher Power was a sort of bush-league pinch hitter, to be called upon only in an emergency. The notion that we would still live our own lives, God helping a little now and then, began to evaporate. Refusing to place God first, we had deprived ourselves of His help. But now the words ‘Of myself I am nothing, the Father doeth the works’ began to carry a bright promise and meaning. (12 and 12 pg 75)

We were at it yet again at The Hope Gathering. Margie N. brought the house down with her story of Hope! Miracles are real folks. I am not talking about religion. I am talking about transformation that can only occur when we let go of our solutions (that didnt work) and surrender to the God of our understanding. We surrender to win!
