We started the 2025-2026 school year off with a partnership between residents and local schools. Finding ways to give back allows us to invest in future generations and pass on generational knowledge that builds bridges across the age gaps.

We’re celebrating Kenny, a beloved junior server at Holiday Country Squire. Since joining the team at sixteen, Kenny has brought energy, kindness and a fun spirit to every shift.

When asked about his favorite part of the job, Kenny didn’t hesitate: “The residents – they are all so sweet.” One of his most meaningful memories was singing for them with his school choir last December.

"There’s a young man that’s going to succeed," shares Barb, a resident. "He’s already shown his love for others. The future needs more like him."

Kenny dreams of becoming a musician, learning piano, owning a home and traveling to Sicily. We’re so proud of him and can’t wait to see what he does next!

Cupid’s arrow struck Joan and Karl 69 years ago and it’s been love ever since! Recently, the happy couple celebrated their 67th anniversary at Holiday Essex House.

Joan worked for Karl’s dad before she and Karl met. One evening, Karl’s dad hosted a party and invited Joan. She arrived alone and needed a ride home – Karl offered, and as they now say, “We haven’t been apart since!”

Ian’s kindness goes beyond the job description. From preparing coffee to shoveling snow off cars, he shows up with the kind of care that brightens residents’ days. One resident who struggled with memory would ask his name every time, and each visit, Ian’s patience and warmth helped her remember.

🎶 We had such a wonderful time with Will Lee, whose smooth saxophone and incredible voice had the whole room smiling. Our own resident, Shaun even joined him on stage for a song, while a few residents danced and swayed along. The music, laughter, and energy made for a joyful day and we’re already looking forward to his next visit! 💃🎷🎤

“Everyone loves Dolly," shares Curtis, a resident at Holiday Country Squire. "She gets lots of attention!”

📚✏️ Back-to-school season is here, and we’re sharing the inspiring school memories of three of our very own former teachers!

🍎 Terry never forgot her 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Foil, the one who made her want to teach. She went on to teach 3rd–5th grade, loving the variety and especially English.
📖 Lynn missed 80 days of 1st grade due to illness, but her teacher, Mrs. Hutcherson, came to her home to tutor her so she could pass. Years later, a TV commercial inspired her to become a Special Education teacher, where she loved reading with her students.
🇫🇷 Ruth was inspired by her French teacher, Mrs. Hill, to study the language, major in French, and even study abroad. She taught English and French for 35 years and still keeps in touch with many of her students.

Some teachers change lives forever and these ladies are proof. ❤️

"I don’t have any secret," laughs Marlin, an easy-going resident at Holiday Thornton Place who recently celebrated his birthday with a party in the community. "I just go along with whatever’s happening."

We’ve had a colorful and fun-filled week here at Crescent Heights! 🎨👕

We kicked things off with a tie-dye party! There was laughter, a little mess, and lots of creativity as residents made their own vibrant t-shirts.

Then came Field Day… and not even the rain could stop us! ☔️ We powered through with outdoor games, arts and crafts, bubbles, and a sweet treat from Kona Ice. Nothing but smiles all around! 🍧🎯🎨

🎨 Today’s outing took us to Hobby Lobby where residents picked up white t-shirts (and maybe a few other goodies too 😉). Residents, don’t forget…tie-dye fun is happening this Tuesday, so be sure to have your white shirt ready!

We’ll be rocking our colorful creations at Field Day on Thursday, a fun-filled afternoon with carnival games, arts & crafts, face painting, hair chalk, lawn games, Kona Ice, bubbles and so much more! 🌈🎉

Nothing says summer like a good old-fashioned tomato sandwich! 🍅☀️

Our residents recently hosted their annual Summer Tomato Sandwich Party, and it was a delicious success. The fun began with a trip to the local farmers market to pick out the juiciest tomatoes and a sweet, ripe watermelon. From there, residents grabbed all the essentials, white bread, mayo, salt, and pepper, to create the perfect summer bite.

Thank you to our wonderful residents for cooking up such a simple yet special afternoon together! ❤️

Meals wouldn’t be the same without the energy that Carolyn brings to the dining room.

Always ready with a smile and a song, Carolyn makes sure that every meal is accompanied by her wonderful energy.

Carolyn has been part of our community for over 6 years, working both on the waitstaff and as a housekeeper. Her favorite part of the job is building relationships with the residents and making sure they feel cared for.

A few years ago, Carolyn noticed some residents seemed a little down one morning at breakfast. So she decided to sing to lift their spirits and it worked. The smiles that followed told her everything she needed to know. That moment sparked a tradition: her cheerful good morning song, which continues to bring joy to this day. 💛🎶
