💩 Let’s Talk Laxatives (and Why Your Gut May Need a Gentler Approach)

Many people reach for a laxative at the first sign of constipation — but daily or frequent use can actually make things harder on your gut long-term.

Here’s what most people don’t realize:
⚠️ Stimulant laxatives force the colon to contract, which can weaken natural motility over time.
⚠️ With habitual use, the colon can become dependent, creating a cycle of constipation → laxative → constipation.
⚠️ Even “natural” options like senna and cascara sagrada shouldn’t be used daily long term.

🌿 And yes — while it is ideal to have a bowel movement daily, missing one doesn’t automatically mean you need a laxative.

Sometimes your stool just needs a little softening or hydration support — not a stimulant.

Instead of reaching for harsh laxatives, try gentler options like:
