HOCR 2025 - Survivor 8 Race
There are moments in life that stand still,
etched in our hearts, unforgettable.
Yesterday was one of those moments.

Dedicated to:
Sam Ainuddin – Founder of WCR Philly; Shannon Cutler and Kim Daniels – Never forgotten. We carried your spirit with every stroke.

To Coach Matt –Your leadership brought us here. Your belief made us stronger. We have our word for you: brilliant.

To Marie –the plan and execution were flawless. We are so grateful for you!

To Dale –Your unwavering support of WCR and SRN means the world to us.

To our coaches, Margie and Marsha –
Thank you for your guidance, commitment, and heart.

Thank you, Survivor Rowing Network
For your vision in creating and promoting survivor rowing. We could not be here without your dedication, your leadership, and your belief in what’s possible. We are all sisters and brothers and already winners.

And finally, to the Whitemarsh community.
Thank you for embracing WCR and standing by us. For the pace boats showing up and practicing with us, you inspired us to be better.

It truly does take a village.

RACE DAY!! 🚣‍♀️🔥
We hit the water at 3:43 PM – we’re Bow 1, and we’re ready!

Yesterday was full and powerful. We kicked things off with the Survivor Rowing Network group photo, followed by brunch and connecting with fellow survivors 💪. Then it was time for practice, complete with some classic Charles River winds.

We capped off the day with a reception at the Irish Consulate, thank you to Declan for the linvite and support!!

Let’s go!!

Boston, baby — we’re on our way!

The Survivor 8 is rolling out of Philly - trading cheesesteaks for chowder - and headed straight for the Charles.

We’re ready to row hard, connect with our fellow survivors, and soak up every second of this iconic weekend.

Catch us on the river - Livestream: https://hocr.org/the-regatta/livestreams/.

October “bleeds pink,” and so do we! 💗 Each year, WeCanRow marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month by rowing a 5K in support of and to raise funds for Unite for Her, an amazing organization empowering and enriching those diagnosed with breast and ovarian cancers through integrative therapies. Several WCR members have personally benefited from their incredible program.

On September 22, we were blessed with a beautiful evening on the water – high energy and spirits, and lots of pink! 🌸 Huge thanks to Marsha for capturing the night and for Judy for our pink ribbon and bracelets.

WCR had an awesome final session Monday night — and that sunset? Unreal!

Our cheer really took off, and Coach Marsha (down on the ground!) was totally into it.
Such a great way to end the season! 💛💪

Big congrats to Heather, who graduated and will be continuing on to TNT with the club! 👏
And we’re excited that Lona’s planning to return next year! 🙌

We wrapped it all up with food, laughs, and great vibes. Couldn’t have asked for a better night!

Kingshead Regatta 2025 - A Picture Perfect Day

Kingshead has recently been a rainy event but this year, it was bright sunshine and calm water!

WCR proudly entered boats in two Survivor events: the 4x and the 8+.

The two quads were:
• Emily, Karin, Odezza, and Bonnie
• Janet, Elizabeth, Doris, and Sue

Our crews came together in a true celebration of spirit, strength, and teamwork. Each boat included two rowers who were brand new to racing and they rose to the challenge with courage and the support of their teammates. These lineups weren’t just about technique or speed - they were about lifting each other up, learning together, and racing with heart. It was inspiring to watch these women embody the spirit of Survivor rowing!

We also saw a strong performance from our Survivor 8+. This crew continues to push forward with determination as they train for the Head of the Charles. Every stroke is a reminder of how far we’ve come - together.

To all the rowers, whether it was your first race or your 10th, thank you for showing what true teamwork looks like. Great job, WCR — and onward! 💪

What a fun night celebrating Whitemarsh’s 20th Anniversary!

We shared laughter, great food, and unforgettable memories as we toasted to two incredible decades of rowing, community, and camaraderie.

A special part of the evening was acknowledging our founding mothers. Their vision and determination to build a boathouse where they could learn to row laid the foundation for what would become Whitemarsh Boat Club. Without their drive and passion, who knows if WBC would exist today?

The celebration also featured raffle baskets. Dale’s “Catch a Crab” infant sweater, complete with a charming crab, was a crowd favorite.🦀socks, a hat, tether and book completed the ensemble!

WCR contributed two fantastic raffle baskets, which were won by Dale and Odezza. Congrats!

A night full of fun, appreciation, and community. Here’s to the next 20 years! 💙
