A body journey that is both grounding and ecstatic, Interweave puts transformation into practice by dissolving barriers within and without to bring us to connected wholeness. Interweave is medicine for our disembodied culture, calling us back to our bodies with loving presence. Katie's work is inspired by meditation, spiritual embodiment, dance improvisation, theatre, chakra therapy, Self-Compassi
on, Focusing, and Jungian archetypes and shadows. Interweave's founder, Katie Wells can also be booked as a workshop guide or performer at festivals, events, retreats, and classes. Creator & Founder:
Katie's dance experience spans most of her 40 years. A contemporary dance artist, professor, yoga practitioner, and founder of Interweave Conscious Movement®, she earned an MFA from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a BA from Columbia College, Chicago, both with a major in Dance and a minor in Theatre. Katie has performed in works by renowned choreographers Shirley Mordine, David Dorfman, and Joe Goode, and her own dances have been seen with symphony orchestras as well as with the bands Lobo Marino, Leftover Salmon, and Desert Dwellers. She directed and created numerous productions, and also toured Europe with her solo improvisations. She performs what she calls Conscious Dance Theatre: an interdisciplinary art form that inspires the inner growth of its audience. An experienced teacher, Katie created Interweave Conscious Movement®, designing seven embodied courses while raising a family in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. Her spirited curricula develop an inner sensing of the body, advance improvisational skills, and evolve patterns of moving, thinking and behaving.
