⚠️protein purity testing⚠️
Wanted to test a very popular protein brand among the exercise community: ‘Optimum nutrition’ Gold standard. This product is a little more spendy in comparison to GNC wheybolic brand but overall still a good protein as a whole.

I was pleasantly surprised at how pure this protein was. On the second photo I loaded 2 micrograms on a Reduced (R) and non-reduced (NR) gel. The red “tally’s” indicate an impurity. It is only slightly more impure than GNCs brand which is the third image for reference.
Notable impurities are at 40 and 80 KDa. Nonetheless the protein is extremely still pure only containing a small amount of fillers/impurities.

Another ingredient included in gold standard is Soy lectin, it is utilized for anti clumping but is important for individuals who have a soy allergen. So it is important to stay Leary.

As a consumer I would prefer the GNC wheybolic brand just because it is more cost efficient and pure. But to each their own. Hope this helps and if there is any questions or something I missed please comment below, and have a good one.
