Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg is sitting on my Elf Shelf for Day 12 of my Advent: Books and Coping Hooks.

This book is hands down one of my favorite books for children!!! It’s a must have in my opinion and is a regular gift I share with young ones. Beautiful Oops is an open invitation for children to make mistakes, to fail, and to release expectations of “right” or “perfect”. Parents can use this book as a running backdrop and frequent reminder which will in turn help children develop flexibility, critical thinking and problem solving skills, creativity, emotional regulation, social skills, and self acceptance.

📘📗Two books sit on my elf shelf today, day 11 of my Advent: Books and Coping Hooks. These books are wonderful resources to support children who have a loved one diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimer’s. These books can help children understand the shocking and gut wrenching changes families experience as their loved one shows memory loss, shifts in emotions, or uncharacteristic behaviors. Both books give simple explanations and practical tools for children to express their emotions, grieve, and navigate this family heartbreak with love and patience.
