The benefits of stuffed animals, or “stuffies” as we call them, are lifelong and endless! They are often a child’s first friend, first playmate, and a very forgiving “test subject”. The developmental skills (language, motor, social, cognitive, and more) acquired through this bond are ten fold and truly help shape a child’s confidence and ability to cope with life and it’s challenges, long after that stuffy is packed away.
“Turtle” is 15 years old and welcomed our youngest into this world on day 1. As part of the baby room decor at first, turtle later became a pillow as soon as our youngest could control what was in her own sleep space. Turtle has traveled many miles, in many planes, trains, and cars, and still has our daughter’s heart and ear!
Can you imagine your 2 year old bringing turtle into the doctor’s clinic?? Yep, it’s a thing….and size wasn’t stopping us. When you know what comforts your child - use it and advocate for it.
I might be a little jealous of Turtle🐢 💕 but endlessly grateful for that bond!
