Frozen Shoulder & Hormones — There’s More Going On Than You Think 💡

In women over 45, declining estrogen levels may play a role in adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) by affecting:

• Collagen turnover
• Fibroblast activity
• Capsular inflammation and stiffness

This helps explain why frozen shoulder:
✔️ Is more common in women
✔️ Often appears during peri- or post-menopause
✔️ Can come on without injury
✔️ Is associated with endocrine conditions like diabetes and thyroid disease

👉 Bottom line: frozen shoulder isn’t “just tight muscles” or overuse — there’s a biologic and hormonal component involved.

Early, guided physical therapy matters. Proper timing, loading, and mobility work can significantly impact outcomes.
