I am BY MYSELF at the BEACH for the WHOLE WEEKEND!! After a busy summer of being mom / uber driver / travel planner / executive chef / court jester / therapist / etc I’ve checked into a hotel room and I’m ready for a solo weekend to rediscover ME!!

I’ve got some big goals and dreams and I need some quiet space and time to check in on everything, so I’m doing the same thing for myself that I tell my coaching clients - really thinking about what lights me up and what drags me down in my life? Updating my personal values and doing an energy audit - where am I living in alignment with my values and where am I not? What do I want out of this current season of life, and what might come next for me?

Ready for a long weekend of attending to my own needs with the sound of the ocean out my window. 🌊

Everything feels like too much right now. Right? I feel like I'm spinning, and then I gaslight myself..."It can't be THAT bad."

But it FEELS that bad, and it's making me feel like trying to launch a coaching business and write about leadership, and is...selfish? Like, who am I to talk about leadership when the world is burning?

But then I remember: traditional leadership got us here. We DO need something different. We need people who lead from love, justice, and healing. We need leaders who feel deeply and don't disconnect from their humanity.

How do you find that balance of moving forward while feeling trapped in the relentless barrage of bad news?

What keeps you grounded and joyful lately? 💛

My brain is buzzing and my heart is full from the IAMAS conference, but honestly I'm also ready to stop being "on" and just be “mom” for a bit.
There's something so beautifully cyclical about this transition — from deep learning and networking back to pool days and hammock time. It's not linear progress, it's more like a labyrinth... winding back to integrate what we've learned.
The real work isn't in the "aha!" moments at conferences. It's in the follow-up. The accountability to ourselves. The bridging between inspiration and how we actually want to live.
Ready to spend summer doing exactly that — with my kids, with new coaching clients, and with some exciting Rebel Leaders developments brewing... 👀
How do you honor both the intensity of growth AND the need to just... breathe?

Just wrapped the IAMAS conference and my brain is buzzing with ideas about maternal activism and feminist leadership.
But here's the real question: how do we keep this momentum going when we get back to real life?
The magic isn't in the inspiration moment — it's in the accountability moment. The showing up even when the conference high wears off.
Ready to spend summer integrating all this goodness while chasing my kids around the pool. There's something brewing in the Rebel Leaders world too... 👀
How do you bridge the gap between learning and living?

We've been told one story about who gets to lead and what leadership looks like. (Spoiler: it usually involves a certain type of person at the head of a conference table)

Meanwhile, mothers are facilitating growth, managing complex systems, practicing emotional intelligence, and building collaborative solutions every single day. But somehow that doesn't "count" as leadership experience?
Time to rewrite the story. The future of leadership looks like shared power, relational accountability, and centering collective wellbeing.
It looks like leading the way mothers have always led.

Instead of motherhood being a career penalty, what if it was recognized as intensive leadership training?
"I spent three years developing crisis management, emotional intelligence, and systems thinking while raising toddlers" = premium executive experience.
"I learned conflict resolution between siblings while managing household logistics" = strategic leadership skills.
Right now we treat maternal experience like a gap to overcome. But what if those years of developing care-based leadership made you MORE valuable, not less? The Rebel Leaders Substack post “Lead Like a Mother” emphasizes this idea that the skills you’re building in motherhood are exactly what workplaces are desperate for.
