Mamas—the best thing you can do is be the example for your kids! Practice what you preach, and you won’t have to preach much. Kids will do what they SEE, not what you SAY!

Might not look it, but this is the face of struggle. After doing nothing for 3 days, I jumped on the bike for a little low impact workout. The struggles of bad osteoarthritis isn’t something I talk about often, but when it flares up, I have no choice but to listen. This weekend has been filled with ice, rest, advil and active recovery. Hoping I can get back on the road this Wednesday for a short run.
Arthritis isn’t an old person disease. It isn’t proof that “running is bad for your knees” 🙄 I live with it everyday, but I also work to manage it through prioritizing strength training and staying at a healthy weight to lessen the impact on my joints.
Marathon training is still happening—but I’ll definitely have to readjust my goals. Right now, I only hope to finish in the strict allotted time. I’m working on my mobility, recovery and nutrition (to prioritize anti inflammatory foods). I hope to knock out some solid long runs and a few more speed workouts before race day. Fingers crossed 🤞

How do you squeeze in your workouts? I’ve been trying to plan one week at a time because my work and life schedules are just a bit nutty. Today it was a quick camp drop off, then hitting the road while listening to some work podcasts. Came back to my desk with energy and ideas flowing!

Run! In! The! Rain! 🌧️
I always tell my athletes to only change plans if weather is dangerous 🌩️ not just because it’s not ideal. You can’t control race day weather, so practicing in all types of weather will only get you to the start line more prepared!

The weekday run. The one that sometimes get overlooked. Not speed work. Not hills. Just miles to tick off the plan, yet important for the overall building of mileage and endurance when prepping for distance races.
What type of runs are your favorite?
